  1. because of the cravings and stress at home. Simply put, because i found an excuse too.
  2. Thanks everyone! Thanks! And yes, Mountain bike jay. Kinda hard to go spin cranks with lungs full of death. Ugh... Thanks Sandy! You're right, sometimes you think your giving up a friend. A ridiculous thought.
  3. Hello everyone! Today is quit day 1, again..... I don't know what makes me more upset, the fact that I let my last quit go, or the fact that now I have to do this again.... Anyway, Im back on, feet planted firm and ready to enjoy oxygen again. How's everyone else been doing?
  4. Nice! Settle in for the ride, stay close to the board. Welcome back to freedom.
  5. Welcome! Glad to have you here!
  6. Sorry, im late to this post. But can I ask, how many of those cigs did you smoke a day before you quit? Remember how easy it was to breath, and how easy it was to catch your breath before you relapsed? Remember when you relapsed? Remember when you had little money left, and had to choose between your drug, and food? Remember that day you went to the doctor, because you weren't feeling quite so well? Remember looking at the test results, thinking to yourself,"If I had known I would get lung cancer, i would have never relapsed!!!"? Remember the months that followed? All the pain and suffering you had to endure, knowing you would be dead in six months anyway? Remember taking the final trip back to that same hospital, only to be laid out on a bed and left for dead? Remember the machines that you drew life from? Remember your family and friends watching you rot away into nothing, as cancer tore through your body in a matter of weeks? Remember when they had to watch you be put in the ground? Remember that? This is you one day. Don't ever smoke another cigarette. Understand?
  7. Happy Birthday! Also, I got a little NOPE for ya, right here. B)
  8. Thanks everyone! Devildoll let me know this was going on. I had a wild day, I ended up having to go to ER for a strange allergic reaction, never had anything like that before. Hence my absence from the site today. I made it! The last two days have been rough as far as cravings go, but I'm doing ok. Thanks so much everyone!
  9. Yeah, its ok though. I just wait until i get to work to have coffee now, cause I can't smoke there, and I don't have access to cigarettes. Plus its a different place, different cup, etc per the suggestions of the wisemen / wisewomen of this forum! lol! Thanks again for the support everyone! Gotta love this place!
  10. Thanks for all the suggestions and support! I never did finish that cup, I dumped it out and grabbed water instead. There's a few times during the day that I get a strong craving. After food and in the morning. Also, Thanks for the perspective Susana! And yes, caffeine seems a bit stronger now as I wean off of nicotine. I don't drink it late in the day anymore.
  11. I can't even enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning!!! I know these triggers disappear eventually, (and honestly, i don't need the coffee anymore. I shoot out of bed like a rocket since I quit smoking), but I grabbed a cup this morning and as soon as I took a sip i got a craving. Pity, cause I really used to enjoy my morning coffee. Guess I should probably put it down for a while.
  12. Great! It isn't just me then! I was thinking the exact same thing a few nights back, so I thought of something. I have an app on my phone that tracks how much money I've saved and how many cigs I haven't smoked since I quit. It also keeps track of the time you have saved, i think it goes by like 5 minutes per smoke that you didn't have. I looked at it and realized I apparently had saved over 8 hours of time by not smoking for three or four days. I thought, "Well, that explains why I feel lost a lot of the time." So, I made a little deal with myself. For all the time I save, I treat it as a bank. The last three nights, I was able to duck out of the house and go for a run, and one day, a nice long bike ride. Since I don't stop to smoke now, i'm getting a lot of projects done that I have put off for a long time, and I still have all this extra time left over. Time that was once wasted by smoking is now being used to get ahead.
  13. Yep. Lesson learned last time. lol! Day 4 and Im feeling great, except it feels like im catching a cold. I kinda think is my body healing up though. I started running again each night, it hurts like hell now, but im sure in a few weeks my lungs will be in better shape.
  14. That's a sad story about that lady. Ouch. While I agree that people standing up and publicly stating that, yes indeed, this is your fault, big tobacco is a great thing, However i still think that for all the damage these poor excuses for humans cause, they should be bankrupt and holding cups on the street. I was a kid and got sucked in by all the magazine ads, joe camel, marlboro man, all that crap. Grrr......
  15. They'll never admit it, they are all money-hungry snakes. Im glad the class action suit mentioned there got tossed out, because now all of the plaintiffs are coming individually and suing the pants off of these companies, and it looks like the jurys that are hearing the cases don't really have a soft spot for big tobacco. I REALLY wish that some how, some way, all of these companies would get put out of business. I know that will never happen, but I can dream, cant I?
  16. Absolutely! That's the power of a place like this. Ask for help and you will get more than enough!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
