  2. Gday I know this place is all about giving up the smokes. But what you discribe is lots of competing things. It’s like a cloud of flys buzzing around your head. Swat one and another gets you. You literally tire your self out trying to get all of them without being left with the energy to actually dealing with just one. You know yourself you have to get to that place…. That head space to deal with one at a time. Start with the place and people you live with it’s got to be safe. Then you can truely have time for you. And the things you find important. Go well. Be safe

  4. Still struggling. Had to get out of my house fighting with people. Binging on alcohol and weed. Getting screwed over by people. Just hard to want to quit feeling worthless and defeated but I still have hope in myself and my situation and I'm still trying. Thank you for checking on me 😊
  5. Hi @snowghost , I have smoked for ~45 years. Never did a serious attempt to quit as I was afraid for never been able to smoke. Always had thoughts about the good ones: after waking up, after a meal, after a task completed. Never thought about the ones that make me feel nauseas, gave me a headache, etc. I quit almost 11 months ago, cold turkey , after I educated myself about nicotine addiction. The first two weeks are no fun, but very doable. Stay active. Keep your mind busy, distraction from 'I want one'. Then it is a short period of mwah. After that you will notice that cravings are becoming less and less and are not intense anymore. I still have cravings sometimes at this point in my quit but I know what it is and can move my shoulders. Step on the quit train!

  7. Hi @snowghost. Welcome to the Quit Train! This is a great forum to get info and encouragement to help you quit. We’ve all been where you are… sick beyond sick of smoking but compelled to continue and afraid of how awful we think quitting will be. That’s how addiction works. But it CAN be beaten! Cold turkey, nicotine replacement, Rx meds - they all work if you’re serious about breaking free. I smoked for ~45 years and used patches and lozenges for the first few weeks, to fortify my quit and help me through the early days. Start at the highest dosage patch (unless you have a health condition). Dermal absorption works fine, but is less potent than delivery via smoking. Be wary of “weaning”… it will likely make your cravings worse, as weaning puts you in a more or less permanent state if nicotine depletion. Good luck to you! Hope you decide to take the plunge soon. Life gets SO MUCH better on the other side….

  9. I'm just happy someone responded, other people have too! This is my third site, the other ones were old posts, text only or just didn't plain work. oh, and I typed that wrong, 50 years smoking.
  10. 14 years this past week. Don’t know where the 14 and 4 months worked in but none of you brainiacs caught it either. This place was never know for rocket science anyways. See some familiar faces and some new ones. All good in Bakonville Florida Chicks and sticks game get too out of control with chicks cheating,,they had to start another one. Suprised? Not me. There is some outrageous stuff on internet but the way they been counting I knew nobody would believe it. Smoking still allowed outside at some restaurants here- see the grey skin color, the droopy eyes, drool faces. It’s sad. Glad we all got off that ride. N O problems with smoking at all for me. Never want to smell or taste it. Still like my beer but working on health too. Gave up sugar pretty much, starting lifting weights few times a week and kept at it good. Same 205 lbs after a year but lost 4 inches off belly and now it doesn’t look bad to tuck in a shirt. Elbows taken a beating with that and golf. But it’s minor compared to where we all were headed with the smoking. Glad vaping wasn’t an option when I quit. Anyways I am still on buddybook if anyone’s in neighborhood. Wish everyone good blessings from Above.
  11. Starting on step 1 I'm afraid. I have the same problems. Anxiety issues and Depression controlled by meds. Last time I weaned down, and you have to believe the patch will alleviate the cravings. Stay busy also away from those cancer sticks. It's the hardest thing for me to quit, a second time. First time was 6 years, Stupid me. All it took was one cigar and I was hooked again. You almost have to be locked in a facility if you know what I mean. They don't let you smoke in a ward. ☹️ They slap a patch on you and your own your own. It was tough but I did it last time not by choice. Hope I was of some help.
  12. I just can't see putting down the cigarettes and just say don't pick up. I've been smoking 25 years, and severe panic attacks. I've been reading everything I can here. The patch really help? How many mg?
  13. Someone want to tell me what happened to original game? Chicks cheat too many times for even the internet to believe their lies?
  14. Congrat's !! Wishing the same for me someday. Great going!! 🙂

  16. Thanks everyone. I missed the date and signed in to see when I quit. No problems with quit. Working on body, lost 4 inches off waist in last year by cutting sugar and lifting weights. Same body weight, just moved some of it to muscle. Hard work at 58/59 years old. Anyways love you all What happed to chicks and sticks game? Part2? How many responses did first on have?
  17. I'm here, in the same sinking boat as you but giving it all before my health declines. It's a slow and frustrating experience. What's on your mind? What have you tried? They can help here for sure. 😀 On the patch weaning down from 3 Dutch Master cigars to zero eventually. Not sure if this is good advice but it worked for me last time and I quit for 6 years! One bad mistake and I was back again. I know all the lies and cheats. It takes all you have, especially have smoked for over 40 years!

  19. ooh, I'm confused and getting frustrated. Typing with left hand, broke right arm, @QuittingGirl I still haven't found posts from 2026=real time I thought there was a chat room. What is the main board called? I found some video links.
  20. @snowghost There is a daily Nope thread for people who have quit and are pledging not to smoke for that day. Go on the main board and find it. We can give you support, but please let us know how you plan to quit, if you quit, etc. As far as "Real time", do you mean like up to the minute posts? I don't know if we have that where it's totally live, but since we are a group of members from all over the world, there is usually someone around most of the time. There is also a ton of reading material and videos, why don't you check it all out. Have a look around. There is lots of information. Take your time and look through all the material.
  21. @SD2026 Where is the daily thread? Where do I meet people that can help me through a craving in real time.
  22. Not sure if this is the right group. Heavy smoker looking for friends to share experiences and tips.
