My 3 cravings in 6 months

Featured Replies

After 6 months of quit, I have had only 3 small craves worth talking about.

#1 was after drinking some Jack Daniels after work with some fellow workers.

#2 was after finding a unopened pack of smokes in my truck.

#3 was after shopping in a department store.

All three times I was lucky enough to have the same person there for support!

Looking at each of them, they were all started by different triggers.

#1 was obviously alcohol, my opinion one of the most powerful triggers!

#2 was by being in the presence of cigarettes, a who's going to know triggerI

#3 was a little unexpected because it came out of no where, letting your gaurd down trigger!

I have learned always expect the unexpected and watchout for the favorable conditions crave.

But I still have not had a smoking dream yet.

Just wondering how many of you remember your cravings?

I jad a trigger just last week. I found my old gas camping stove and took it to a job where I had no power to make a hot drink.

I had such a flashback of touring and using the stove and of smoking while waiting for it to boil.

Of course now it's just an irritation that can be igmorred. But it was a reminder that our brains retain the autocues for some time if they aren't rewritten.

Ps I hate smoking dreams. I'm always hopelessly hooked and depressed at the fact. So glad to wake from them.

i had a trigger tonight...after my dogs were viciously attacked.  After the adrenaline calmed down...I was looking for my "reward"

this disease never goes away....but it's one craving in...I would say...in 3 months...and that one was very mild.

I'll take the occasional crave any day over every 20 minutes

last smoking dream was in my first 6 months

Have had a few craves but not recently - noting really major that I can remember. But I did have a smoking dream. It was either last night or the night before. Can't remember which but it was not pleasant. Unfortunately I think I will have to contend with them for a long time to come. But like Babs said, better than having a crave every 20 minutes !

No dreams for me either

You are kicking this quit - like a boss!

I remember them all right!

What I get now are not really craves. They are irritants, or possibly reminders which might be a good thing.

Dreams, still get the odd one I think, but I'm terrible at remembering dreams.

I got the last big craving at the funeral...it didn't last long, I walked away from smoking people and I was fine. I never had those big overwhelming cravings and sometimes I still wonder if the big "BOING" will hit me one day.

Every morning I get a urge? A thought? to smoke. It is related to the first cigarette of the day. No idea why. Also, the car cigarette. This I kill with gum.

That's good going Rez, I have several smoking dreams every week but they really don't bother me.

The last few days have been very hard and I have a bad feeling I'm not going to be smoke free much longer. That sucks but I'm at my witts end.

I had very few craves when I quit smoking (this time… in my other “attempts before relapses, I had a lot)… this time around I had an attitude that made it really easy to quit.

I have 2 craves I can remember vividly:

1) Driving to the Plaid Pantry because I was sick of not “getting to” smoke… and driving around that damn block for about an hour… I refused to give in and my quit became stronger.

2) About 2 months into my quit, I went into my husband’s office and told him I really would like a cig… he said “well then, have one” and proceeded to tell me that the 7 packs I had told him to destroy when I quit, they were in his closet… I looked, and sure enuf, my brand, 7 packs, sitting right there staring at me… omg was I mad… so mad that I forgot I wanted to smoke… lol… he later told me it was a “test” for me… I was either a smoker or a non-smoker… I understand now what he meant but I could have kicked his ash then.

I had a few smoking dreams my first year of my quit, but they were always dreams of how I wanted one, but then felt guilty that I wanted one, then I’d wake up relieved it was a dream.

REZ, you have an amazingly strong quit… rock on!

Babs, wtf???  How are your doggys? OMG!!! I would be so upset.

Sue, what on earth???  You know smoking won't help anything...why are you thinking of abandoning your quit??
