April 11, 201412 yr Today I started running again. I've been recovering from eye surgery, so when I work out even still - almost 6 wks later- my vision goes partial whiteout, and I'm insanely busy at work....and just burnt out. So today I MADE time to take a lunch and went to the company gym. I ran for 22 min and did Jacob's ladder for 10 and my gosh, by the time I was done I was wheezing. (For only like 2 min or so but still!) It's amazing how quickly one can fall out of shape. What was soooo easy for me, I'm having to start over on. I don't want to have to start over again, I'm going to stick with it. Kinda like quitting smoking. *At least I haven't gained any weight since Christmas, even without the strict workout regime. But I really have to watch what I eat, and that ain't no fun for anybody.
April 11, 201412 yr You can do it Jen! You've got this. The wheezing could be mostly attributed to being burnt out and your recovery? Although, when I started working out for the first time in years a couple of months, I was wheezing/coughing a lot. Now, not so much, but I hear grinding in my knees, so I can't do squats. :( Hmph, lol. The damage I've done to my body!
April 11, 201412 yr Im glad to hear your eyes are healing and getting better. You'll be back at full speed before you know it :)
April 11, 201412 yr the subject line immediately reminded me of Weezy from the Jeffersons....then I came across this and i know it has nothing to do with the original post but i cracked up! Hang in there Jengirl! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXYwWOcTeQA
April 11, 201412 yr Glad to hear you are on the mend - the fitness will come back but don't overdo things to start with- you don't want to injure yourself- we all love you too much for that
April 11, 201412 yr Author Day 2: Ran for 22 min again, abs for 10 min this time. Not 'easy peasy' BUT definitely no 'wheezy' today.

I went to see a pulmonologist last week and asked if I could make make my lungs stronger. All he would tell me is that it is controversial.
April 13, 201412 yr This is all good news... glad you are doing better with the eyes... how long do they say it will take to fully recover??? The more you exercise the more you can eat is how I look at it these days. I watch the scale and work out more or work out less depending on what I weigh...
April 13, 201412 yr Author Colleen, I have never been a wheezer, I think I just hit it too hard. More of an 'get your butt back in gear' wheeze. By rights my stamina is a whole lot better than it should be considering 20 years smoking. Scott, 1-3 months before completely healed and 20-20 vision is the time frame. But I am about at 80% now I think. I have worked out every day since Thurs (not super long work outs, but I wanted to get away from that), so I think it's going ok on that side.
