March 7, 201511 yr I just found a charge to my debit/bank account for $106.21 billed by Amazon Digital Services. What in the heck is this?
March 7, 201511 yr I have no idea. It could be any dowloadable book, game, video... It is NOT "Amazon Prime Membership". Our annual Amazon Prime charge is $99 and it shows up on our credit card statement as: "AMAZONPRIME MEMBERSHIP AMZN.COM/PRMENV" Better call and find out what that charge is.
March 7, 201511 yr My Amazon account was hacked once and that happened to me. Someone was buying whole series of shows using my account. Then they ordered bike parts. They racked up about $700. Luckily I caught everything while it was pending in my bank account and stopped all of the charges. Now I don't keep my card info stored, I enter it everytime I make a purchase. People suck. :(
March 7, 201511 yr I think you can call Amazon now (I don't know what time they close). You can go to their Contact Us page and ask them to call you. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/contact-us/178-9648776-2975335?ie=UTF8&language=en_US&ref_=cu_si_noauth&skip=true Or you can call them at: Toll free: 1-888-280-4364International: 1-206-266-2992 --- charges may apply
March 7, 201511 yr That's scary!! I just checked my bank account online to be safe, and it shows $7.37 on iTunes and I only spent 2.29. So I guess everyone has theirs hands a little bit on our wallets.
March 7, 201511 yr Author I just checked my Amazon account. Apparently, "I" purchased Microsoft Office 2013. Going to call these people and will definitely remove card details from my account.
March 7, 201511 yr Somedays, it's hard to not long for the days of innocence. Definitely remove the card from the account....all accounts.
March 7, 201511 yr Author I just spoke to them, they aren't going to immediately refund me. They are going to start an investigation and I'll hear from someone in 24 to 48 hours. Here's the kicker, I can't remove that particular card b/c it needs to be on there for a refund. I changed my password and now am going to call my bank.
March 7, 201511 yr Ugh! Such hassles! At least you got ahold of somebody at Amazon. I expect that they will refund your money soon. Please do let us know what happens. If Amazon does NOT refund your money, a lot of us will probably think twice about the safety of doing business with them. By the way, was the Microsoft Office shipped to your address? Oh, I bet it was a downloadable version, wasn't it?
March 7, 201511 yr Author Yep, it was a downloadable version. Bank says wait till I hear back from Amazon. That if they refund it will be a lot faster than a dispute, which takes 45-60 days. The wait isn't a big problem really, it's not an imposition. It's the fact that we don't have as much control of our own finances as we are led to believe.
March 8, 201511 yr They always get me with Itunes charges. My bank is really good at immediately refunding me the money but the crappy part is the con artists still get whatever it was that they downloaded. The information can be hacked into from any place that you use a card, or even from having the card in your purse in the vicinity of a hacker. Just an unfortunate fact of the times we live in. I hope you get it resolved quickly.
March 8, 201511 yr Author What is strange is I made a purchase on Amazon two days earlier. It was for 20-odd dollars. The time the charge was made I was at the gym, so somebody must have gained access to my account. What makes it worse...sometimes I place orders for my step-dad, he hates computers lol and his card was on there too.

March 12, 201511 yr Colleen, it sounds like Amazon reversed any charges that were still "pending" in their system, but any charges that already cleared (like the $106.24 charge) you will have to dispute with your credit card company. Is that correct? I just want to know how these things work just in case I ever run into a similar situation. I'm pretty sure that your credit card company will refund your money, so I guess things worked out for you. It could have been a lot worse. Thank you for sharing your experience with us-- it will help to keep us all alert to possible fraud and theft. By the way, as far as I know the really major identity theft hassles and financial losses happen when someone uses your personal information to open new credit accounts (credit cards, department and sporting goods stores, cell phones, online shopping, etc.) and runs up tens of thousands of dollars in fraudulent charges. It can take years to work that out. So please, everyone, put a "freeze" on your credit with all 3 credit reporting bureaus. No one (including you) can get a new credit account unless and until you unfreeze your credit. We did this several years ago and it has given us a lot of peace of mind regarding identity theft ever since.
March 14, 201511 yr Author So, I checked my account and my refund did not arrive as of yet. I thought 6 days was enough. So, I called. Guess what? They never processed the refund. It's on the way now :)
March 14, 201511 yr Oh, good! I thought that it was too late for Amazon to arrange a refund. Glad it worked out for you.
March 20, 201511 yr Author I am going to find somebody that works for Amazon and beat them over the head.
