February 25, 20188 yr I have read about this issue since early on in my quit and it seems to be the number 1 issue threatening not only new quits but well established quits as well. OK, you've been quit now for months or even years so what's the harm .... just one for old times sake! You can abstain easily right after that one! Oh, the posts I have read of people years into their quit who thew it all away by seducing themselves to have "just one"! Then after that, the agony and disappointment in realizing the truth of what they have lost. Complete devastation! Back to square one!! What a shame. NEVER listen to that voice - not matter what.
September 28, 2025Sep 28 Thanks for bumping this @catlover. This is EXACTLY how I lost a 7 year quit once… the fallacy of thinking “My quit is solid so I can have just one.” Of course 1 became 2 became 20. 1 id too much and 1,000 is never enough. You simply cannot bargain with this addiction. NOPE!
