October 25, 20179 yr I've been hearing a lot of advertisements in the past week or so to come get your flu shot. You can get the annual vaccine for free where I live; well, not free but paid for through higher taxes. Anyway, it dawned on me today that this will be the first full flu season that I haven't been a smoker. This certainly wasn't a trigger for me to smoke but it was a cause for celebration. With cold & flu season upon us now, if I do get sick I am pretty sure I won't be down and out for as long as I would be when I was smoking. The main thing I will not miss is standing outside, feeling like crap and smoking a cigarette just to feed the addiction. That really should have been the wake-up call for me so many years ago :(
October 25, 20179 yr Right on, Reci! The flu, if it does descend upon us, will be a much shorter and less intense event than if we were still smoking, that's for sure. Another reason to embrace being free...
