When I smoked...

Recommended Posts

Sometimes when I lit up...the wind would blow the smoke..right into my eyes..

It blinded me...it stung like hell..nothing I could do except keep my eyes closed till the pain eased..that's if I was lucky...if I wasn't ash would blow in too...

Whats your bad experiences ?....

Smoke in the eyes.  Smoke up the nostrils.  Uncomfortable feelings that I always attributed to "allergies."

Lighter theft.  I got downright paranoid about people making off with my lighter.

Standing in the rain doing that move where you hold the cigarette between the thumb and forefinger and cup it with your hand.  I was getting drenched, but I kept the cigarette dry.

Speaking of keeping cigarettes dry...I spent a lot of time at the river and lake fretting over protecting my smokes.  I had a metal container that would hold 14 cigarettes.  I put that inside a ziploc bag which I put into a dry bag.  Three layers of protection and still I worried.

The interior of every truck I've ever owned has been pockmarked with cigarette burns.

The list goes on and on.  Smoking is a pain in the ass and when you quit it is good riddance.

Poisoning people in my home.  Why did my houseplants die ?  You guessed correctly.

Trashing through my ashtrays or garbage for stogies.

Running frantically through airports to smoke between flights or sitting in that smoker's prison room.

Having smoking constantly on my mind !  It was complete piracy !  Gah !

Sometimes if I would smoke too fast or too many in a row I would cough so hard I would start dry-heaving. That was attractive.

Hiding, constantly, from loved ones bc I was "in the closet". Yeah right, I'm sure I wasn't hiding it from anyone now that I know how awful the stench is.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
