May 19, 201610 yr In Japan there is a period of unluckiness called Yakudoshi.... its different for men and women, and it lasts 3 years (before - current - after) Men start at age 40... that's me this year...the before stage (mae-yaku).... And man have I been hit by it at every angle since new years eve.... I cant type well because of a broken hand, I got a rip in the pool liner in my pond, both happened this past week and both of them stem from me drinking myself into a stupor and coming up with wonderful gardening ideas....that should not be attempted while inebriated. It's becoming more and more clear despite the advice of others to just limit the amount or switch to beer that I have a problem with alcohol. My wife finds the whole thing funny and then she says I should quit, and I agree, she comes homes and throws a big bbq with her heavy drinking and heavy smoking employees. And she says for me to be nice and socialable..... on top of that when i get home, they have built the fire on the patio floor of the bbq pit, and Im like how the hell do these dopes not have eyes to see where and how to use my bbq pit. Instead, they removed my set up and did something entirely silly. And my wife let them.... luckily nothing was ruined and I was able to prevent going into a rage, but man i really needed a drink after coming home to that..... not mention seeingall the beer cans stacked up on my island kitchen ..... ugh and the smoking..... It took so much effort not to go ralph cramden on everybody and start yelling fort them to get out.....get out.... get oooouuut! Mr. Owaki's kids were cute, so when I saw them they made me smile.... and that helped curve my frustration and anger for a bit.... Anyway hired proffessionals to do redo my pond....this time, no pool liner, but FRP, something i wanted to do from the start, but thats whole different rant, my neighbor is doing it for me at a reasonable price.... as for my hand.... ive got to deal with the pain for the next 3 to 4 weeks... in the mean time ive got to try not drink....because if i keep going on those kinds of binges, i might wake up in ditch some where, if i wake up at all.
May 19, 201610 yr Hey Man, I've read you here and there. So happy you are nicotine free. This freedom has helped free myself from many other burdens. May 19, 201610 yr And that's from the drunk chick.... Drinking is the root of a lot of evil and boat Loads of fun. It's figuring out where to stop and stay on the boat which can be tricky
May 19, 201610 yr Author thats the problem...i usually ride that boat, get lost at sea, and end up in a perfect storm... even when I say Im just gonna go a few knots out from the dock,
May 19, 201610 yr If you seriously think your drinking is a problem, then it is probably a problem and if you want to address it may I suggest you address your wife as well! Respect, understanding, boundaries and support you will need As for the 3 years of bad luck, mind over matter, if you think you will have bad luck then that's probably what you will manifest for yourself I find positive affirmations work for me if I'm slipping into a negative mind set I hope you move forward and your hand heals quickly Great job keeping your quit :)
May 20, 201610 yr I tend to believe we can take a bit more control then that. I understand it may be acknowledged as a cultural thing but honestly, every time we choose to move ourselves forward then that's what does seem to happen. Food for thought. Hmmm drink problems. It's the age old dilemma isn't it - do I don't I. My thoughts are if we suspect we do then something must be done. Trials of time off, self imposed limits and boundaries of what I do and don't allow myself. If you tell yourself sober there is to be absolutely no gardening no matter how wonderful the idea seems when you're sober - you're less likely to do it when drunk as an alarm bell will go off in your head that you've already done this conversation sober for yourself. If you want a clean slate then you do that. Much love. xx
May 23, 201610 yr Author Thank you Tracey and Marti. Golden advise... This past weekend was filled with a lot awesome... and accomplished a lot of things in and around the house....!!
May 23, 201610 yr And no drunk gardening, so well done!! Honestly. We have more control over our thoughts then we were ever allowed to believe really. Quitting teaches us all more then how to not be a smoker :) x
