A little liquid sunshine!

We ( my brother and I) arrived in Charlotte NC this morning about 2:30 am ..... We made the quick (?) trip down here (10hr drive) to catch a few days of the Z-max 4 wide NHRA drag racing and 1/2 the drive was in the rain, and it's raining here this morning ((7:00am). :( . And since the #1 factor in going 300+mph (and stopping) is traction, it looks like everything will be on hold until a break in the clouds come.

Unfortunately my back has been giving me quite a bit of problems, so sleeping in isn't an option... Well...sleep in general hasn't been too much of an option lately...so....being we are in the heart of NASCAR country, a cruise around some of the local attractions is now part of today's plans.... I am not much of a fan of NASCAR... It's a marathon, not a race, but since my brothers nephew is employed by Hendricks Motor Sports, and he is our unofficial host, I have to at least act interested.... .lol...

On a more positive note to this trip... I drove straight through with only 1 stop for gas.... I told my wife, this was my "practice run". The whole family ( us/the girls/husbands/granddaughters) are coming back this way in June for a weeks stay in the Outer Banks, and the way my back has been, I didn't know if I would be able to sit that long. (driving or passenger).. The OBX is 2 hrs East of here, but this drive went suprisingly well, so I am sure 2 more hours won't be an issue....

..and...at least the forecast temps are in the 80* range with bright sunshine expected tomorrow......at home we were lucky to hit 60 and it's usually overcast....going to work on my sunburn for the upcoming vacation when this rain clears out......lol

Pouring rain in Knoxville, too.  Hope things clear up for you, soon!

Hmmmm I'm going to have try that one Joe, hey rez just popping down to Florida with the girls, a practise run to make sure my butt can sit for that long for when we ever drive there ;) lol

On a serious note hope your back does get better, have a great weekend, beer will help with the pain but only in large amounts ;)

Car racing of any sorts zzzzzzzz banger racing is ok though that's Derby in another language :)

If you're going to be travelling back through the Charlotte area with kids in tow, you might want to check out the U.S. National Whitewater Center.  They offer rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, mountain bike trails, zip lines, etc., and you can rent any equipment needed at a reasonable price.  If you're not feeling adventurous you can always take in some live music or just enjoy a cold beer by the Catawba River.

Good times.

Blimey, I always thinkg "how far have you driven" when I read some of the trips you guys think are normal. 10 hours later, I'd have past a country's border lol.

I hope your host keeps it interesting enough and that your back offers you some relief.

x

Joe have a great time! I can tell you that it is starting to get super hot again here. :(
