April 26, 201511 yr I am going out in a bit and that same old temptation to stop at the 7-11 is there. But I dont really WANT to. Its my addict talking. But Im posting anyway to get some encouragement!!!
April 26, 201511 yr Author Tomorrow around 8:30am is my 1 week celebration. That helps :) off to take a shower with the famed rose scented soap!
April 26, 201511 yr You don't want to smoke, so hold on to that for dear life if you have to. Tell yourself over and over you are not going in that store and then don't. Purposely drive/walk in a different direction. Bring some candy or gum to satisfy the oral fixation. The nicotine and all the poison is now out of your body. Do everything you can to hold on to your quit, even if you have to avoid people/situations in the very beginning. Congrats on one week!
April 26, 201511 yr Author Thank you...Unfortunately I cant walk a different direction to get to the bus stop I need to get to, but I will be armed with gum, suckers and ice water. I was romancing. It is starting to ease up.I used pretty smelling soap and hair products so I smell goof. I can do this. I can do this the same way I stay sober. I will use the same tools. One of them is envisioning myself having to change my date. Imagine how it will feel...the second I light it I will be thinking "Well you effed up ding dong" I think I am ok now
April 26, 201511 yr Author Thank you for the reminder that the poison is out of my body. That is what I wanted for so long!
April 26, 201511 yr Glad to hear you made it through okay, Michelle. I can't wait to celebrate your one week with you tomorrow!!
April 27, 201511 yr Your quit reminds me of some of my early days. I would be driving near my gas station smoke stops. I told my self, go to the next one, go to the next one. go to the next one. I was almost, and nearly turned around. I pulled my car over and used my phone to check the Board. I didn't post, but I just checked in. I struggled that moment, but I told myself - "just go home, you are almost there. If you have to you can turn around when you get home." I got home - logged on to the Board again, and got through it.
April 27, 201511 yr Author Thats what I have been doing all day. Get thru the next task. Get thru the next one then u can go get some if you REALLY want to. I am ANGRY that I dont get to have one. I could tho. But I am choosing not to. So thats good. I am just ANGRY about it.
April 27, 201511 yr I remember how truly elated I was that I made it to 7 days, I thought I wouldn't make it 7 hours. You got this! Tough times only make our successes sweeter.
July 2, 201511 yr It HAS to be the mental addiction at this stage, surely? I STILL crave!??? what's with that?? I'm pathetic!! GOOD FOR YOU, MICHELLE!!! it's almost been a MONTH!!! hang on.... your "quit date" says April 20th? but the pic says 27 days?? I'm confused... also, how CHEAP are smokes in the US!! if those figures are accurate, that works out to $3.50 a day!!?? I also smoked a pack every other day, but 25 in each... give/take, and was costing me $12.50 a day!!! That's CRAZY! I can see why it's so difficult for y'all in the US!
July 3, 201511 yr Good for you getting through this. There will come a day that you will not think about smoking. It will be here soon
July 3, 201511 yr Anger played (and continues to play) a significant part in my recovery from cigarettes. I can't smoke away the emotions - - - I have to face them. As long as I don't seriously injure myself or others I figure alls well. Anger may be a disguise for sadness/grief/fear. You'll be able to root them all out. Just a couple days ago the daytime supervisor at my work REALLY CHAPPED MY ASS. I was so angry I actually trembled. But instead of running outside to smoke I held strong to my opinion and my ground. In the end it felt better than it would have. If I had ran away from the situation I would still be obsessing about it. Now I don't have to do that. I appreciate this. Keep on keeping on - you can get through this and you can succeed.
