October 19, 201411 yr http://www.ted.com/talks/susan_cain_the_power_of_introverts?language=en This is a very good talk with many good points it is 20 minutes long but worth the watch in my opinion
October 19, 201411 yr I feel much better after watching that. I've always been an introvert and even shy in most social situations. I don't like being in the spotlight at all but sometimes I have to because either I don't have a choice or I need to because it's what needs done. I've been dealing with this since college. Thanks for posting this. I'm an introvert, have never apologized for it and never will. It's who I am and heck, I like where I am today. :)
October 19, 201411 yr Author It touched me also as I am introvert also I found myself nodding my head yes with a lot of what she was saying........especially with group work/projects for school and work
October 19, 201411 yr Thank you frez! That really is me in a nut shell... Nothing I love more than a few days away in the woods fishing, alone and with a stack of good books :)
October 19, 201411 yr Thank you frez. I'm a little on the IntroV side. Well, maybe a little more than a little. :)
October 19, 201411 yr I went to Barnes & Noble today and bought her book that she was giving her presentation about. Thanks again, Frez. My new book on my centuries old table. :)
October 19, 201411 yr Author Tell me how it is I am thinking of downloading it onto my kindle but am not sure if it is something I would read all the way through.

October 19, 201411 yr Thanks Lisa, really hits home with me. As adults, we usually at some point in our lives feel comfortable in our skin and make it work for us. That said, it sometimes takes a long time. I'm trying to help my son get to that point much earlier, but with the popularity game they shove down their throats with social media and what-not it's no easy task.

I totally agree - My 12 year old daughter had a terrible time in 6th grade last year - I have been doing everything I can to give her confidence - she is finally making a turn this year but still has bad days - I told her boys are mean when they like you and girls are mean when they are jealous of you. Any advice from a female perspective would be appreciated.

Any advice from a female perspective would be appreciated. That's a really tough age Humbled. The social structure in schools has changed a lot since 93. Girls seem to be out of control mean. A huge part of the problem is social media. There is a race to appear popular based on how many "friends" you have on fBOok. I try to stress a few good friends beats a million fake friends. As I am sure you have figured out, I might as well be saying it's raining aliens.
October 21, 201411 yr You are so on point Colleen- my 12 year old has a smart phone - crazy -the social thing too- I keep telling her if you can count your friends one hand you are doing better then most - kids are too smart for their good but I think many are lacking the common sense we grew up with. Her sister is right behind her too. Ugh!
