  1. Hi Tony!! Glad you joined us! Sorry I don't have a lot of time under my belt yet but I'm thankful to have found this website. Everyone has given me the best advice and absolutely have your back during the worst part of the quit.

One day at a time. You can do this!

  2. I don't know about a picnic sandwich lol Rubens are delicious!!! When I was a kid I'd make some toast and cover one side with butter and the other side with peanut butter and smash it together. Once it all started to melt was the best time to eat it :D I still do it sometimes...my kids are not so thrilled about it lol Also a big fan of scrambling up some eggs and onions little mushroom and throwing it on some bread with cheese frying it up like a grilled cheese mmm I'm so hungry now.... haha

  3. Negative.. You didn't get approval. You got one person's opinion... I hear vapor is just as bad or worse in some aspects as smoking. That's of course another persons opinion.

Your doing great! Almost 19 days!! Why back step now?? I will be soooo excited to get where you are now! Hang in there. Just the motion of smoking a vapor after not doing anything of the sort for 19 days just sounds like something bad waiting to happen. You may not crave the nicotine but you'll crave the habit. Get through today. Maybe tomorrow will be easier. If not then get through tomorrow.

    Rooting for you!

  4. I can't really use the sugary stuff. I have low sugar problems already. I eat sugar, sugar goes high, sugar plummets, I pass out. Awful combination. That also causes the jitters and shakes for me. I've been carrying around an ice cold water bottle for the past couple days. Glad your doing well staying away from the microtabs!! I should have changed my patch a couple hours ago but I haven't. I'm just going to leave it till it itches too much to ignore lol Maybe it'll run out of nicotine and trick my brain at the same time.

I'm with ya on the and we aren't even nicotine free. A bit annoying. Feels like cheating although I know it really isn't I suppose.

  5. Doreen that is absolutely wonderful! Even after so many years if you can kick that nasty old habit so can I!! Your amazing!

This is literally the longesttttt I've been without smoking since I was 16 yrs old. I feel great. I notice things I've never noticed before. I used to get winded walking to the bathroom at night, when I got back to my bed and laid down I had to take a few minutes to steady my breathing before trying to sleep. OMG and I didn't even notice that until I quit! I came back to my bed laid down rolled over and took a deep breath my first thought was holy crap I can breathe! Never again will I ever light up. Nothing I have been thru in the past few days is worth it. I'm sick of rationalizing for something that is going to kill me and everyone around me.

Oneistoo How are you feeling today?? Run out of your I can't even remember what you called them but I remember you said they were lozenges. What was your plan when you run out??

  6. My senses are finally kicking in too.  I took my step daughter to an appt today and the middle doorway smelled like smoke and I fanned it away like it stunk and I'd never smelled something so vulgar then laughed at myself once I realized :) We are living in an upstairs apartment and I don't feel winded going up and down for the past couple days. Its been absolutely wonderful! Every time I walk up or down them I think to myself like we have lived here for a year. This could have been such an easy year if I hadn't been smoking. What on earth would possess someone to make life more difficult? Then miss it when you give it up? *ding ding ding* lol

  7. Hi :) dropping in to say hello!! I tried to read up on previous comments. I didn't get them all but I got most! Sorry I don't have any advice to give you I'm only on day two lol But I'm here and I'm also a coffee fiend and was a big drinker. I slowed my drinking a lot after my son. I was down to a few beers a night but often. Nearly daily. Last month I decided I wanted to quit smoking so I'd have to give up drinking first even if it was only a few at a time. I think I've had maybe 6 beers in the last month? It wasn't really that difficult amazingly... Now coffee we say.. lol Is almost as big an addiction as smoking for me! I have been smoke free for this will be day two and I just polished off half a pot. :) I took my coffee elsewhere. Like you my morning routine consisted of coffee, smoke, internet. Yes, in that order. So I took my coffee to the couch. I still do internet and coffee but on kindle or my phone until I finish my joe. Then I move my way to my regular desktop with a cold glass of milk and daily vitamins. For some reason that 'spot' is a huge temptation when a coffee mug is added to the equation.

I hope your having a wonderful morning and looking forward to reading more posts from you!

  8. Thanks everyone for the welcomes!! I've been browsing and reading so between that and my regular day it should help keep me busy I hope lol keep trying to knock them images of smoking out my brain and it just isn't working. I did read the 'romancing' post and wow did that person have it pegged! I know there were so many times when I was totally disgusted by smoking and for some reason those are just not the images that come to mind. Go figure :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
