My name is in the mix for Chattajack, but I underestimated the registration process. The race has an international field and the number of applicants is growing every year. Given my impatience with uncertainty, me and a couple of friends are throwing around the idea of an informal race that would cover the same course. It would be a field of local river rats. Not nearly as well organized as Chattajack, but a helluva lot of fun. The unofficial name for this hypothetical race is The Roamin' Gorgy. Of course trying to organize a group of hell raising paddlers is comparable to herding feral cats. So...we'll see how it goes.
