triggers still at nearly 3 years

Featured Replies

I went to the Casino yesterday on Mother's day with my mother.  It was the first time either of us have been to the casino's as non smokers.  (me nearly 3 years and my mom at almost 2)

I wasn't worried at this point about it....but I was curious as to how I would feel when I got there.  Would I be triggered?  Would I be tempted?  Will I still enjoy gambling?  Seemed to me hitting the buttons with one hand and smoking with the other just went naturally.

My experience was this:

I wasn't tempted...nor was I disgusted.  They had good ventilation in their so the smoke didn't really bother me.  What I felt was....indifference.

When I was leaving the casino it occured to me that I hadn't given it much thought really.  I remember when I smoked I had to find a machine in the smoking section...and now...it's not a concern.  I would cash out and get up from a machine and not worry if my cigarette was done or not.  Not worry if where I went next allowed smoking.  Not worry if I had enough smokes to carry me through my day there (I have a tendency to hang around the casino for hours...so does my mother..another potential addiction. lol )

Not only were either of us NOT affected by smoking or not smoking...but we both won 100 bucks and decided to leave while we were ahead!  That never happens!  It was a great day!

:)

Well done on not being bothered by the triggers in the casino.

After leaving with a $100.00 each, they are just trying to get you to go again.

Now you are going to have to find a forum on how to beat your new gambling addiction!

haha...Rez...been there done that!  I once won 1600 and my addiction was in full force.  I use to leave work early and sneak off to the casino by myself....as I walked up to the casino I would see people in uniform...going there by themselves like me....feeding the addiction.  I remember feeling a "rush" when I walked through those doors and any problems I had...were left at the door.  I didn't know anything except..."kaching!!"  hahaha.  I am much more controlled now.  :)

Nice job babs, and your mom as well....

that's great news... :)

So you won  :)

Exactly. Same here! I had fun just walking around with my mother and sister and trying different machines. I spent an unhealthy amount of time in there when I smoked. Reason #4,399 why smoking is a bad idea. :)

I miss the nickel machines-man I haven't been to one in maybe 10 yrs??? Congrats on not being tempted.

Congratulations- you did great and to take away a win must be icing on the cake :-). Although I still find it hard to believe people can still smoke inside anywhere - everything is smoke free here !
