February 15, 201511 yr I finally went back to the Doctors about my Chest Xray from last year and had blood tests done (thinking if anything was really wrong they would call me in) Chest Xray came back clear. Yay lucky me. They don't give you a scan here unless they see something that needs further looking in too. I was called back in to the Doctors for my blood tests which turns out I have an underactive Thyroid. I am not good at having tests done, I always think about how long I have smoked and fear steps in. So I have probably had it for a long time. It comes with all kinds of good things like Fatigue, Poor memory loss of concentration, weight gain, depression. All the things I have blamed stopping smoking for every time I have quit. Now I know why I felt like shit. I have been taking the Pill to make the Thyroid work properly for a month and have lost 1 stone 4 pounds, no exercise and no change in diet. It has made me a lot happier person. And no longer think my quit is harder than everybody else's. On to something silly I have done. When I was at my friends house looking after her boys ( so they couldn't have a big party ) and my friend went to America for a holiday. Everybody smoked and there several times when I just felt like asking for one, in the end I had some lozenges and I am paying for it this week by having craving for nicotine. But at least I didn't smoke. I have realized I can't be round smokers full time. And that's what been going on with me. Special note thank you Doreen and Marti for checking up on me. I am sorry I haven't returned your messages I enjoy the friendship you have offered. I enjoy everybody who is on this board and feel sad when someone slips away Gabby
February 15, 201511 yr So happy to hear the chest xray is ok! And I totally understand the underactive thyroid. I was just diagnosed with this in December. I too am taking the daily medication. I wondered also how long I may have had this issue, since I had never been tested. I haven't lost any weight yet :( And I do exercise, so hopefully something starts to work soon. Good job not smoking when being around smokers for that amount of time :)
February 15, 201511 yr Aww Gabby I'm pleased you've got some answers to questions you had for a long time. Pleased you didn't ask for a cig either. And that this quit is solidifying for you. All good news. x

February 16, 201511 yr Hey Gabby! Good news - I guess! Romancing the smoke...everyone does it. "I wish I could smoke like that person is over there...." They smoke because they are addicted and brainwashed just like you and I were. Worth remembering. Keep marching Gabby!
