  3. NOPE - I will not smoke today.
  4. During my last year or so as a smoker, I went through about 3 short periods of time when I tried to quit by vaping. I went back to tobacco after a couple of weeks every time. For some reason, I still missed the feel of smoking even though I liked not smelling like cigarettes. I also started to realize that I was actually vaping more than I was smoking. I really believe that I was taking in more nicotine when I vaped than when I smoked. I believe vaping lulls you into a false sense of security and is a horrible way to quit. Cold turkey or doctor approved nicotine replacement therapies are the way to go. Just my opinion.

  6. I'm a fan, although I don't read his stuff as much as I used to . I did like On Writing. It gave good insights into King's writing process. The Shining is a good book to read. There are some pretty big differences between the book and the movie. King really hated Stanley Kubrick's movie version. I am currently reading Doctor Sleep which is King's sequel to The Shining. It follows Danny Torrance (the little boy) as an adult who is trying to help others in trouble with his powers. It is pretty good so far.

  11. Thanks guys. 1 year is awesome. I was the king of short-term quits and relapses. To any newbies reading this, if I can quit for good, anyone can.

  13. Thanks for the welcome, Joe. When I joined QSMB last November, I joined as johnny5. My name is Johnny and I really liked the movie Short Circuit when I was a kid (where there was a character named johnny 5 in it) so that is the name I go by there. I was basically shooting for a name that would resonate with me during a more innocent time before I picked up smoking. A few weeks after I created an account there, I saw that there was a "jonny5" that was very active on that site not long before I came there. I had no idea about that and felt kind of bad about it. I joined here a few days ago. I originally joined here as johnny5 too but I found out that the other jonny5 is a member so I took the 5 off. Sorry for any confusion.
  14. Thank you buMbLeB
  15. A bit early for me but I will NOPE for Thursday. NOPE - Life is too beautiful to be dragged down by a nasty and deadly nicotone addiction. I will not smoke.
  16. Thank you, Nancy.
  17. I'm Johnny. I actually heard about this site from another site. I am a 5 days away from 1 year smoke free. Quitting smoking, while very challenging in the beginning, is one of the best things I've ever done. I knew it would benefit me from a health standpoint but my overall outlook on life has changed a lot for the better. Thanks for having me here.
