Started Chantix 2 days ago
I used Chantix the first time I quit and the symptoms that I had was nausea in the morning which lasted about 30 mins and vivid dreams. The nausea wasn't easy but it did go away after a while, and the dreams didn't bother me at all. For me it was a wonder drug as it made me forget to smoke. You are supposed to only smoke for the first week. Are you following the directions? I suggest you talk with your doctor since everyone has a different reaction to it.

Different methods make some initial difference to some people in the very early stages of quitting but that is really just easing the strength and/or frequency of cravings. There is NO magic bullet that will make quitting easy - there just isn't! Yes quitting is difficult particularly in the early stages. You are not only purging nicotine from your body & brain but you are also having to change up your daily routine because you are eliminating having a smoke every 30 minutes or what every your own frequency is so you need to find others things to occupy your mind and hands with. The single most important tool you must have starting out is a rock solid committment to yourself that you WILL quit smoking NO MATTER WHAT! Quitting IS hard but it never killed anyone and that applies to all of us. Continuing to smoke will steal your finances and your health ongoing and likely at an increasing rate as you age - that's a guarantee! Make your choice and follow through with it.- Back on the Crazy Train. Again. : (
I'll agree with @GonSo Sal and recommend that you quit as soon as possible. Why delay being free from the clutches of nicotine? The sooner you start, the sooner you'll be free! The other issue with setting a quit date at somepoint in the future is that we all tend to make and excuse to delay as that date draws closer - that's just not you, it applies to ALL of us. We're all humans and that is simply a human reaction to something you really would prefer not to have to do. We're all here to support you and here to help guide you with suggestions based on our own quit experiences. That's all we can do. The actual quitting is up to you and be assured, it IS possible for all of us🙂- chicks or sticks - Part 2

Congrats on being nicotine free for 6 years @podarki and I fully agree with you that being free from the slavery to nicotine addiction is really nice in fact, it turned out to be the best part of quitting in the end and was not siomething I'd even thought about when I first started out to quit.- chicks or sticks - Part 2

I'm glad you had success with it. I got really sick on Chantix. Couldn't tolerate its side effects. My dreams were crazy! Patches worked in the past, I'll stick with them. Wishing you well! 😄Sal started following Weaning off Champix- Weaning off Champix
I smoked for 40 years & had never really tried to stop, but as I was getting older & becoming more health conscious I thought I really need to try & give up the cigarettes. I started with the champix, set my date & off I went, almost 6 years later I am a non smoker & even detest the smell of it. I had no side effects what so ever, I love not being a slave to smoking anymore.podarki started following Weaning off Champixpodarki joined the community- Back on the Crazy Train. Again. : (

I am not going to smoke today. NOPE.- Back on the Crazy Train. Again. : (
Hi Sal, I recommend to read as much as possible about nicotine and nicotine addiction. Also watch the stop smoking videos. Knowledge helped me to understand what was going on, why and that it was temporary! I quit 10 months ago, still remember the tough first weeks. But after that I start feeling better. So much better. If you quit today you will feel so good on the 14th of October!!- chicks or sticks - Part 2

I don't recommend Chantix. It made me also feel miserable and puked my brains out on it. Bad stuff! For me anyways and many others in my family. The patch worked for me but it's still not easy as I have fallen off the wagon again. ☹️ Dreams are my dilemma concerning smoking. Always looking or trying to find a smoke. Like you, I struggle to quit again. What did it for me was being hospitalized for 2 weeks without a cigarette and only the "patch" to save me from cravings and withdrawals. Being strong is the key and staying busy away from whatever you smoke. 😄 Wish you luck and hope we can both kick the habit!
