December 17, 20178 yr Good morning my fellow non- smokers, I wanted to share last night around 5 i took my patch off and this morning i ended up putting it back on before i went to work. Now i know i don't and won't smoke, but i hate that i feel like i cant do without the patch at times. Should i plan a cut off date? or wait until the recommended 3 months. At home its better to deal with the withdrawal symptoms than at work.
December 17, 20178 yr Congrats on Day 6! Truth is no one can make that 'patch on/patch off' decision for you...it's all on your terms. We can only share our own experiences, right? That said, at some point, you'll have to go through withdrawal from the nicotine (from the patch). Some of us used it in the beginning to get over the hump from cigs; some of us went cold turkey. I went by the motto, whatever it takes. That included being grumping, fights with family, gaining weight, etc. Nothing mattered other than quitting. At some point, you're going to have to dig deep. We all did. We all made it. And so will you :). **edited to add - i tend to believe that 3 month thing is little more than marketing to keep you buying more of their product. but, i've been wrong before so... December 17, 20178 yr Hey L! Great progress so far Runfree's advise is bang on! It's whatever it takes for you personally to get this done. When we quit, we are battling two things at once. The physical addiction to nicotine and the mental reliance on smoking in conjunction with almost everything we do in our lives. They say it takes 3 days to flush the nicotine out of your system once you do go cold turkey. So, if that's the case, why does it take so much longer to feel comfortable as a non smoker? It's the second part. The mental part of quitting. Retraining your mind to function normally again as a beautiful non-smoker Is it easy - no, not for most of us. Can it be done - YES! Absolutely it can be done. We are all proof of that.
December 17, 20178 yr You have had great advise...I can only agree... This is your quit...your baby....we will support you...whatever you decide...I think of it like pulling off a bandaid.. There is the slow painful way..or there is the fast quick way....the choice is yours....but the fast way is always the best x 6 days....fabulous ....
December 17, 20178 yr Author Thanks everyone, i do feel like 3 months is too long. I'm gonna give myself another week and off with the patches too. I am so proud of myself and feel blessed to have this group have my back.?
December 17, 20178 yr Hey Latoya! Pride is one of the benefits of quitting that you are already experiencing. If you can quit smoking, you can do ANYTHING else in life that you set your mind to
