R.I.P. Walter Gretsky

Don't expect many here are hockey fans but most would know the name Wayne Gretsky, one of the best hockey players ever to have played the game. His inspiration, his father Walter, passed away yesterday while still living in the old family home in Brantford Ontario, Canada. A modest home in an unnoticable neighborhood and the place is stuffed full of Wayne Gretsky memorabilia! Cluttered you might say. This is where Wayne grew up playing hockey with his brothers and sister on the back yard rink each winter. Walter was not only Wayne's inspiration but was always involved in youth sports programs in Brantford his whole life. He was never too busy to give a kid his autograph or support their efforts in community sports. He was tireless up until the end in attending youth sporting events and other community youth efforts. The thing he was most proud of was that he was a Canadian! He was always hugely patriotic. Something we could always use more of. If there were more people like Walter Gretsky, the world would be a much better place, especially for kids!

Rest well Walter 🙏  Job well done!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
