February 16, 20224 yr The thing I know from recovery is that the more we share our experience, the more we help others. So @Sunshine, you being here and getting real with the journey helps me and everyone else on the QT. It also helps those who haven't joined but are reading. When it gets tough, just post. Everyone is cheering for you!
February 16, 20224 yr Author Thanks Kel. Your words of encouragement help me alot. So glad to have you here also. Just finished up some laundry and am sure you know the drill. Put clothes in washer, sit and smoke etc. Well not today. Trying to work through these do it without a cigarette moments. It did bother me but as all the advanced quitters tell us reprogram and fight the urges. This sure is a work in progress. But I so look forward to the day we can look back and know that it was all so worth the effort 😀
February 16, 20224 yr This is why we say quitting smoking is a journey ... I didn't know how to be a a adult without smoking ....every time I did a task I would have my fix .... Once I quit ...the more I did these tasks the easier it got .... Before long I was doing them without even thinking of a cigerette..... It will happen ...you must have to travel along until it does ...everyone is different ....but eventually it happens .
February 16, 20224 yr Author Doreen I truly appreciate your feedback and encouragement. My day was not up to par and your comment on learning to be an adult made me smile. So true though. Although I don't know what I was today. A mess.
February 16, 20224 yr I think I once referred myself as a toddler who has had thier dummy taken away .... As I was told....and it's true ...No matter what we are going through .... It's all temporary....you have to go through it ...to win ... Then you look back and realize ,it wasn't that bad ...our brains and over thinking made it worse ... Your doing great ....what you are achieving is amazing ....feel proud ..🐸
February 16, 20224 yr I think we just have to expect the first couple of months are going to be rough. But the more we practice patience for ourselves, do the next right thing in terms of self care, we will find that it gets easier and easier. Hang in!
February 17, 20224 yr Author Doreen the toddler comment is even better. I know it's temporary but it's hard in the beginning. So glad I have people in here to lean on. Love riding this train.
