Planning a mini Vacation..

Featured Replies

Or a mini holiday to you in the UK  ;)

Every year My wife and her brothers and sisters get together for a few days just to hang out...with our families as big as they are, its about the only time us "adults" can get together and just hang out.

Last year we went to Put-in-Bay...its on South Bass Island on Lake Erie..had a good time and we may still rent a Villa for a few days there, but we are tossing around a trip South of us and renting a cabin

The others are undecided, but I have made up my mind...

I want to rent the cabin...because 1/2 mile from us is this :

We are not sure of the date...

I am guessing sometime in late July or in early in Aug.

I can hardly wait...the first half of the year hasnt been real kind...it HAS to end better...

The cabin looks awesome.  I like the tree house cabins but if it were windy...wouldn't want my coffee to spill.  Are the cabins anywhere near Mohican State Park?  I've been there several times canoing, hiking, camping etc.

Another favorite place of mine is Shawnee State Park/Forest in Portsmouth, OH.  Spent a lot of time there hunting and camping when I was younger.

I don't know about the ziplining though.  As long as I hovered 20' or less from the ground, I'd be fine.  Otherwise, I'd be drinking a cup of coffee back at the cabin. :bye:

Funny..my wife and 1 sister in law is all for the zip line...the others (2 brother-in-laws and a sister-in-law) said NO WAY!!...i am quite the coffee drinker also (in fact just finished another pot since I got off work..I try not to drink it after 8 though)

And yes...it is near Mohican State Park..in fact it is at the end of Wally Road,(I am sure this is where you camped if you stayed at a campgrounds that wasn't the state park...they are all on this road, along the river)turn left and the cabins are about a mile down the road...

We used to camp alot, but since the kids got older, we just dont take the time to make plans to go...in fact, me and my wife decided to put our camper up for sale this year..we just dont use it.

That is beautiful part of Ohio.  Have you ever seen the outdoor play "Tecumseh"?  It's in Chillicothe. I've seen it 3 times and loved it.  Back when I was in college (Kent State University) I was really into Allen Eckert's books and after I read "The Frontiersman" about Simon Kenton, Tecumseh and others about the settling of Ohio, I had to see the play.  The horses, gunfire etc., awesome!!!

If you haven't seen it, I would highly recommend it.
