  1. I truly like this post from Sazerac. A quite few years ago I tried to quit and did it by slow weening myself off them. I got to the point where I was down to none. I made it a couple days without a smoke. I wasn't totally committed and didn't have the support I needed. So, I decided to just take a couple drags from a cigarette and that I would still be able to quit. That turned out to be an epic fail. The difference between then and now is that I'm and totally invested in my quit. I also have a great support system set in place. I am starting to completely buy into the whole NOPE ritual. The second biggest difference between then and now is I don't have one of the biggest triggers anymore either. I decided one day 17 years ago I no longer wanted to drink alcohol any more. I didn't have a problem with alcohol but did make very poor decisions when drinking so I just stopped. So, What it all comes down to absolute commitment , a strong support system and hard work.
  2. I first got exposed to Stephen King while a sophomore in high school. I read Firestarter and I was hooked. Some my favorites are The Shining Needful Things The Dark Tower The Stand It The Green Mile & Dreamcatcher to name a few
  3. Welcome Lordy, I so glad you joined the group. Anything truly worth doing is something you have to work hard at. I myself just currently quit after smoking for 37 years. I am currently on day 8. Just hang in there and we will do this together.
  4. NOPE
  5. This was inspired by a saying I saw across the front of The House of Blues in Orlando, Florida. Who are your favorite Blues artists or what are some of your favorite Blues songs. I'll give just 3 of my favorite songs.
  6. This is definetly one of my favorite movies
  7. I've never heard of the author George Will. I just researched the book " Men at Work: The craft of baseball" and it sounds really interesting. I think I just might buy it for my kindle.
  8. I'm reading "High Treason" by John Gilstrap. It's the 5th book in the Jonathan Grave series. These are black-op fiction stories.
  9. A resounding NOPE
  10. I want to thank everyone for all of the support thus far. It's always easier to attack any of life's big challenges with a strong support system.
  11. I just got through week one and starting to feel better. I have a good feeling that tis journey is going to start to steam roll in a positive direction.
  12. I have 3 of them off the top of my head https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4LeEgV1BzXM

  14. Hello everyone, I decided 4 days ago to take the idea of quitting smoking seriously and quit cold turkey. It only took a chest infection due to covid 19 to finally push me over the edge. I had a couple tough cravings today but I worked through them. I was searching the internet for some kind of support system when I came across this site. I decided to join and get the help I believe that I will need to continue strongly.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
