September 16Sep 16 I am 93 days nicotine/smoke free..Smoked for 45 years. Although proud of myself, I am struggling to handle the mental issues that literally started when I quit. Fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, depression, extreme emotional swings and insomnia is wearing me out. I quit cold turkey, but 11 days ago went to a doctor and got put on wellbutrin and buspar. Anyone one else?????
September 18Sep 18 GdayWelbutin raises your dopamine levels. When you were smoking the nicotine controlled your dopamine. Nothing was pleasurable unless you had a cig with it.Now it’s time to be good to yourself. Rediscover the simple pleasures like a brisk walk. A long shower. A long talk with an old friend. A movie and being able to sit right through without a needing a cigarette break. Now you’re in the drivers seat not the nicotine…. Takes a bit of adjustment
September 19Sep 19 Hey there - welcome and congrats on your 93 days.OMG the brainfog was the worst! It was like my entire IQ dribbled out the bottom of my shoes for a while. And my satisfaction/gratification receptors were were totally scorched after my own 45-year smoking career… everything felt flat. But have faith and carry on - things settle down after a while. September 24Sep 24 Welcome @robinmccoy99 ! Well done on quitting and I'm sorry to hear you're struggling at the moment. I don't have any experience of Welbutrin or buspar but the brain fog/emotional swings etc in the early days I'm certainly familar with! It is difficult but it will settle down. As hard as it is to believe this at the time, it really will get better!
