Bloody hell @Cbdave its sposed to be a secret ya drongo,.... if we keep spreading the word how will we keep the buggers fed, there wont be enough vegemite in our diets to repel them if the tourists stop coming.

 

Everyone, please ignore Cbdave, there are no drop bears, no it is a vicious rumer started by the Kiwi's in the hope you will all go there.... don't fall for it.... come her, visit us... we promise you will love it so much you never want to leave... well that's what we will tell your loved ones anyway if anyone asks. ?

I was told told drop bears was a Sydney problem? Don’t you in Victoria burn them nests out in the summer months with those massive bushfires and kill of the remains with sodden winter rains and freezing blasts of winter antartic wheather.

Here in Qld has never been great drop bear country. They never get a clear drop on thier prey in the rainforest canopy. Once on the forest floor they fall prey themselves to the bush turkeys. The bush turkeys lay thier eggs on the drop bear carcass and cover them with massive piles of rotting leaf litter. The warmth of mass of humus hatches the eggs and the carcasses supply food for the newly hatched chicks. Isn’t nature smart.

Anyway up till reciently we have had started to have a problem with curious overseas visitors leaving the relative safety of sandy coast. Yep you guessed it puts them in the forest with the bush turkey. But nature is grand, it’s all about checks and balances.

As the number of visitors come in fatal contact with Bush turkey the number of humpback whales are increasing, and the whale watching boats. Just one of those boats goes missing it’s 60 to 100 visitors.... easy to hide a few doz bush turkey Nos in those figures. 

And Jo you can talk about it openly. It’s been talked about for the last 200 old years and never made any difference. I don’t know why perhaps they have to find out for themselves. They come for whatever reason and become part of the food chain it’s only nature. 

My advise when visiting Queensland  you got to eat like a local and smell like part of the landscape. In Qld it’s a simple breakfast of a piece of whole meal toast, vegemite  on that and smashed advocardo on top.

The diferent types of avo’s fruit at diferent times of the year ensuring a year long supply. The pic is some growing in my back yard probably from a seed buried by a bush turkey.

Well now I just want me some smashed avo on vegemite toast... the breakfast of champions. Queensland has Bush Turkey's and poor old Perth just has Bin Chickens.
