Smoking is not the issue - it's the damn fears

Featured Replies

I get these panick attacks. I was addicted to either using a NRT patch or smoking the last 5 years and those pillars are gone. I feel very unsafe, like an old friend is gone who protected me. I know that's silly because I was compulsive with the patches and sometimes smoked 3 packs a day.

I just have to get used to the idea I don't NEED them anymore - they are dangerious to me, toxic. Nicotine is toxic to me. BUT for so long it felt like a life line.

Now I'm 3 days quit cold turkey and the cravings get viewer and less harder. I learned sugar is a trigger. Not coffee but sugar. I used sugar is every hot drink.

And when the it's 5 PM I freak out, with internal flashbacks and panick attacks. no where t hide behind. So here comes the trick and the adjustment to learn to addapt and use my tips and tricks for such triggers.

A dark window once was a trigger, but in reality is harms nothing. I need to REALISE THAT!

I need to learn MY living room is MINE NOW and SAFE, even without a cigarette or patch to hang on to.

Are there any good articles about smoking and suddenly more panick attcks?

But it won't take away my fears

The only thing that takes away your fears is your determination.

Fear is normal and natural. You manage it.

You are not a cube of sugar melting in the rain. You are a strong, determined, cool-headed person.

Acknowledge your fear - and let it know that it will not win. You have already won - so your fear is best just moving along.

I've got messianic music on it's good :)

Have you tried meditation and yoga, both great for helping calm and relax you, put on some hypnotherapy music and lie back and meditate/ relax,

I got a tiny book, it's called the little book of calm, it is just full of quotes, things to do to help keep me calm, my hubby just started reading it and he loves it, if you do whats wrote it really does help you stay calm.

Lavender oil baths aswell help me when I'm having a panic attack xx

I don't do Yoga or meditation as it;'s against my beliefs :)

I discovered something I need to communicate internally way better. Let everyone watch outside and see it's safe. Then some parts are less likely to panick. Communication internally is the key :)
