I just need to unload somewhere, where I can cry my eyes out semi-privately...as I ramble on about something so I can get it out of my system and move on with things and be done with it.  I do not under any circumstances want a pity party.  It's just this needs to be released or I will be miserable on top of miserable.  Let this thread fall to the next page, please.

The past couple of weeks have been really tense as we have been waiting to see if our project would continue past today.  My client's client was supposed to give an answer as to whether the project would continue by Christmas Eve.  They were asked several times and they wouldn't answer.  I've been sitting on pins and needles wondering if I would have a job after today and finally Monday at the end of the day we got the answer.  The project (my job) would not be continuing past the 31st of December.  That's today, so as of noon time today I no longer have a job.  Two days notice.  Over the holidays.

This was not my dream job by any means, it was something I haven't done for years and the pay rate was lower than anything I've seen in years too.  I took it because for family reasons, I had to not work for some time and lived off my savings...really needed something recent on my resume.  I gave it my all.  Ended taking control of most of the project, training the new hires and somehow became the answer person.  The client's client even seemed as they wanted me to work for them, brought me to their site and then changed their mind.  It was very odd.

On the bright side, I have a new friend from the project and today her and I went for a non-celebatory celebration lunch for Mexican and a Sangria.  My supervisor hugged me and thanked me for letting him lean on me and promised a glowing recommendation.  He will be sending my resume out to some people that may be interested.  I have a headhunter working for me.  There is more time to look for the right job, whatever that may be.

I feel like this is upsetting me more than it should.  I don't know.  On my way home from work yesterday, my falling apart exhaust system, completely broke down.  I need that like I need a hole in the head.  I have a bunch of mixed feelings about the whole situation.  On one hand, I am a little angry and upset on the other, maybe this is a blessing in disguise.  I just hate the uncertainty of it all.

Don't worry, Colleen, no pity-party here. I think you did great! You took a job that wasn't your dream job (or your dream salary) to start to dig yourself out of a hole. Turns out that you did the job well, made some friends, and spiffed up your resume as you had intended. Yes, it sucks that you didn't get any advance notice about the contract termination, but I bet you can use a couple of weeks off to rest and relax. You  have brains and drive and determination and I'm sure you will land on your feet.
