I save over $5400/Yr. not smoking ($11.91 per pack!!!).  I just bought new living room furniture this month.  Last year I did a 2 week trip to Kauai.  Those are some pretty nice perks....but the health benefits outweigh all of that.

Turned the basement into a gym.  Power rack.  Olympic bar.  Plates.  Dumbbells.  Heavy bag.  Speed bag.  Double-end bag.  And I just recently added a full set of kettlebells.

Also bought a new canoe.  Because you can never have too many canoes.

Boo and stewie bought internet porn

I already had that budgeted before I quit smoking.  I go for the premium content because I'm a classy guy.

Can't say I have bought anything solely because of quitting. The wife has a pretty good handle on what's available to spend and makes sure nothing lays around too long. She's a firm believer in "you can't take it with you!!" :D

By the way BKP, Kauai is my fav. Island. Napali Coast is a real treasure to explore - spectacular!!

Sarge & Mrs. Sarge continue to fund (every year) 40 to 60 days in various mountain ranges, cliffs, crags, and other high places to Climb, Rappel, Hike, Camp, get drunk, have tent-sex, make S'mores, cook on an open fire, get devoured by mosquitos, watch the stars, sleep under The Big Sky ... each and every year.

As well as Entry Fee and lodging for 2 or 3 Marathons ( although Sarge confesses to dropping back to Half Marathons in his old age these days).

Same as it ever was.

6 years running now.

My wife and I used to do something special every month when we first quit.

Then later, every 3 months.

Now, we do not do anything special with the money we have saved from smoking, we just live, but we live better economically than we did before as smokers.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
