I've been to the lung-nurse and looks like I have COPD. I smoked to long, too much. I'm crying and my heart breaks. I've been so blind. So ignorant and 'it won't happen to me', well it did. I was diagnosed with asthma in 2006 and since then I've always shove away the guilt, shame and filled my mind with excuses. I did it, once in 2014 / 2015. I thought I could get away, be a smoker. Guess what no one 'can be a smoker - and get away with it', I did the test and it she was shocked that it 'looks like COPD', 'but you're just 34!' So we're gonna do it again and I know she'll have to send me to a lung specialist. After 10 puff of inhaler your test should improve... it didn't.

This is me on my knees, not begging any od for mercy but ask forgiveness to you friends for all the guilt trips, shame, and excuses; I'm here to quit. I am back, to safe what's left of my lungs. I smoked my last, last evening. The quit train will be in my bookmarks and I'm gonna do what ever it takes to stick with NOPE. Standing on my own two feet taking responsibility, I should have taken a while ago.

And if you read this and you're quit, or if you still smoke - you're one smoke away from your addiction - from your killer. It's not your friend, it never was.

Evelyn, sometimes we have to sit in darkness in order to see the light

Yes...you have COPD and can't undo the damage that was done...but you can and absolutely MUST prevent any further damage from this day forward.  SMOKING IS NOT AN OPTION!

NOPE!

welcome back!  Sticky quit!  NO.  MATTER.  WHAT

I know ladies and I'm gonna join in full blast - my biggest nightmare is in the back of my head - she wanted to make x-rays and I'm thinking what if I have lungcancer like my parents - both is horrible COPD progressief in the years and I am JUST 34 years old. For now I'm gonna stick with what the test showed, further tests might confirm the COPD in the hospital or reveal an untreaded asthma... or my nigthmare.
I'm here to go for the whole run. I can't explain the emotions that run through me. AND even NOW the addiction is strong 'oh but it might be a mistake - one won't hurt', seriuosly???? I'm blown of my feet by how complicated this addiction is and I appreciate your support. Do you know any Joel's video's related? Or ones I must see, again? :help: All help is welcome.

I sincerely hope you can take this unwelcome news about your health and turn it into something positive for yourself Evelyn. As babs said, you MUST absolutely do this now to prevent further damage. The choice, as always, is yours and yours alone. Hopefully this will be motivation enough to allow you to fight this addiction successfully. We are all here to support you but as you know; YOU have to do the actual hard work. Stay strong my friend and watch any and all of those Joel videos as often as you can. They will help reinforce the fact that smoking does nothing good for you, only bad things.

I'm gonna make a hard decision. I have to want this - I NEED to DO this. NOT you. You know this is serious and that I mean in. I'm gonna 'let the' QT for now, I have an abonnement on Joel Spitzers video's. And I'd like to re-befriend some of you on facebook. Knowing I'm not alone. This is not about battling the dragon alone. But about facing myself and I'd love to be in touch, with many of you. But constantly thinking of not-smoking makes it a big pink elephant, lol. So I'm gonna continue my constructive ways and I WILL succeed in this sticky quit. I might pop in every once and a while. And I care a lot about you all.

Be back later

Crying won't help.

Quitting will.

We've heard it from you dozens of times in the past three years.

Forgive him, folks, if The Sarge no longer believes.

How is this any different than the times before?

You really mean it this time?

Really, really really, really ... like - For Realsies?

Then what are you gonna do differently this time?

HINT: There is one-and-only-one correct answer to that question.

Easy Peasy

Doesn't mean he doesn't want you to succeed..

Sooo...make this one count..

Take smoking off the table..today..tomorrow..for ever..xxxx

For gods sake Evelyn, i always believed in you but if this tremendous wake up call dont get to you i dont know what else will. What the hell, COPD? Quit smoking!! Dont die a smoker!! You can do it. Looking back, yes, it was very hard and it took ages for me to not miss my smokes but now i ask what was all the fuss about. Stick with all your ammunition until the reach the lido deck and thats it, you conquered, just dont take another puff. Stay close to the forum, take it one day at the time you know the drill.

So sorry to hear your news Evelyn.

I hope your breathing improves with quitting. I've heard people report that it does even though they have emphysema or COPD.

One of the images I keep in my mind is being attached to an oxygen bottle and not being able to walk far. This happens from smoking. We know this often but choose to not think about it. I guess now you know it for real. Perhaps this is the main difference for you now from pre-diagnosis to post diagnosis. The only difference is you KNOW this now and can't deny it anymore.

I'm so sorry, E! That's so scary! I really hope you stay here and stay quit. You can do this!!! We can all do this!!! Save what you can of your health. I'm proud of you for not saying "Eff it. I've already got it. So, why not smoke?" I think many addicts would play that game, but you'll be so much better off without continuing to poison your poor lungs.

Thank you so much for the cautionary tale and sharing it with all of us! It sucks and it's a hard reminder why we're all here doing this.

Sending good vibes and positive thoughts your way!
