This article is fantastic. I believe that it has been posted here before but has been long forgotten. I am glad that you posted it again. I laughed the entire way through but reread number one a few times.

Number one is what this community is all about. We all know, even though it has been awhile for a number of us, it is still fresh with us.  We remember what we went through and want to help other people get through it like we did. Just having that understanding from people who have been there may just be the key to a newbies success. I know that it was the key to my success. The constant reassurance that it would get better, that I would no longer feel the way that I was feeling, was what kept me going.

It's good. He should write another after successfully quiting. The point of view makes it seem hard to quit, but several here, including me had the mind set it was easy and any pain felt good as a reminder of body healing and nicotine losing the fight.

"Ever broken up with a guy or girl because they were ******* insane, only to find yourself calling them a month later? "Why, I don't even remember why we broke up!" (Hint: It's because he shaved your mother's name into his pubic hair.)" < My favorite line right there.

Wow what a coincidence.  I remember reading that article when it was first published and I was contemplating quitting.   Sadly, I also remember a footnote to it that said at the time of publishing the author had relapsed and was smoking again.  I hope he was able to find that final quit.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
