Add to the list. Too easy to forget after a while what smoking WAS or COULD cause.... Missing events or conversation to go have one.....   Smoking causes smelly breath, like cat shitt smelly, that

Smoking causes you to cough-- --in the middle of a theatrical performance --in the middle of a speech --while on the telephone --in church --every time you laugh --all through the night

Retirement

Guy was 60 died yesterday. Pack of smokes next to him. Wife came home to find him. No reported health problems but like most smokers hasn't been to doctor on years. Retired three years. We help with all the calls. Medical examiner didn't care about much after hearing 60 and smokes.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome - and other digestive malfunctions

That is real talk.

My wife suffered terribly with IBS... and my smoking always made it worse.  But I would still subject her to it when I smoked in the car... but, it's OK, because I blew it out the window, right...?!

I did say that smoking makes you selfish!

Worsening RLS.  I suffer with restless leg syndrome and smoking does make this worst.  In the last few months I have found I was able to lower some my medication.

I suffer from this too Sandy.  But I usually do not notice when I do it, or I do it in my sleep.  I am going to ask my wife if she thinks it has improved or not...

Fingers falling off in the cold from fumbling with a lighter in minus 40 weather plus wind chill. Transitional cell carcinoma, as well. What joy.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
