5 years for me today

Amazing. It doesn't really feel as if it's been 5 years, and I'm not sure if that's good or bad.  I have no great words of wisdom, have had no miraculous rebirth, no huge gains in confidence, no wonderful new happenings in my life (yet, but I'm working on that).   Many more bad things than good have happened since I quit, but none of it was because I quit.  What is absolutely certain, though, is that had I not quit poisoning myself with cigarettes when I did, my health would be drastically and irreparably worse today.  So that has to be more than enough since at some point it's all that matters.  Oh, and my house smells much better now, and I love that part, too.  I still get some mild cravings/thoughts here and there, but am never, ever, sorry that I quit.  So now I'm ready to celebrate and very grateful that I still can.  Cheers to all, and if you're on the fence take the leap -- life really will go on and you'll be giving yourself the best chance to be around to enjoy all the ups and downs of it.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
