I wonder where that myth started; about Chinese food places using cat in their recipes?

Gee, I thought it was dog.  We often walk our dogs over to the pharmacy around the corner.  We walk past a Chinese restaurant and they always size the dogs up as we walk past the window.  Needless to say, it is not where we get our chinese!

Same rumour here in Glasgow. Is it not because the do eat cats and dogs in China?

I'm not sure if that's actually the case - maybe? I know you can get a Rat on a Stick in Thailand. Sort of like a Rat Kabob :54_hushed: (not that I would myself thanks anyway)

Since I was a kid I remember people saying; "Oh, you'll never see a cat within 3 blocks of the Chinese food place."

Of course, I knew it was likely not true but I'm curious how that rumor got started.

There's a crummy looking Chinese joint in Chattanooga, rough part of town.  I can't help but notice there's always an inordinate amount of pigeons around that place.  Almost as if they're being baited.  I'm just sayin'.

There also used to be a Bar-B-Q food truck that parked in the lot next to the animal hospital over on Amnicola.  I never trusted that either.

So same thing is said here down under... well cats are more for dimmies (dim sims) and dogs are for the other food. Meats, meat.... I have been pretty adventurous in my time and eaten lots a stuff.... it is easier when what your eating doesn't look like the real thing... camels pretty good done the right way... had me some possum, and bat, but seriously what is the difference between eating pig and eating dog?? or eating pidgeon and eating chicken (have had pidgeon more than once).... what's the difference between rabbit and cat???? Protein is protien and if it tasts good who cares what it was when it had a face.
