  1. Exactly, stay focused, and remember - this is all so temporary. Soon you will have kicked addiction's butt.

Just gotta get through the early days. It may not be all sunshine and rainbows, but still very doable. Else none of us would be here.

And a belated welcome and congrats on the great decision!

  2. Hey, I just saw this.

Before you give up (and I am not trying to sound harsh, but this is your very life we are talking about) please read every article you can get yours hands on.  This thread is a great place to start, if you have read it all, read it again please

Please don't give up!  Strength has NOTHING to do with it, I am not strong at all.  If I can do this, I promise you can too.

Nothing's done that can't be undone yet.  You can still do this.

  3. 1 week to the day after we quit smoking my hub was let go of his job of like 7? years.

Perfect "excuse" to "quit another day," but by then I'd done so much research and committed myself so fully that I knew there was no going back.  I texted him, "Whatever you do, don't smoke."

Life is not always a bowl of cherries, but problems are sooo much harder to deal with as a smoker.  Because you always have 2 problems then, your problem at hand, and the problem that you are an addict.

You have the right mindset Sammie!  You are doing so well.

  4. See, you are already doing better than me, I don't understand the chicks and sticks game =/

For real though, great great job!  Smokers and never smokers don't quite understand how this process works, but us ex smokers know it every step of the way.  It was so helpful for me to have a group of people (and Allen Carr) that have walked this same walk.  Isolation is not good in times like these.

I am proud of you for staying on top of it and making positive changes.  They can be tough at first to make, but it's so important.

  5. Love this! It's not the easiest thing in the world at first to do, but it's totally doable. My last quits my heart wasn't really into it, you have to have the right attitude. Which it sounds like you do! If the going gets tough, stay strong and know that we are here anytime.

I remember how amazed I was that I made it thru my first day without smoking, and the world didn't end. ;-)

  6. Oh the WORST thing was that little unhealthy sounding crackle when I laughed really hard when I was a smoker. I made sure to only laugh hard around close friends. Near the end there, I started to feel a twinge in my left lung, and who knows I may not be out of the words yet, but feel 100% since quitting.

Just goes to show you, as I was not a terribly heavy smoker (closet smoker constantly in withdrawal) you still get all the bad side effects!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
