What would you say to somebody thinking about quitting?
Thanks,
Matthew

Well, I fell off the damn wagon for a while, but back on it as of the day before yesterday (6/28). Not one puff today.

It also says and I quote "It’s important to restart quitting right away—today or tomorrow at the latest. Don’t give up on your goal of no cigarettes at all."
So isn't that a little contradictory? I mean if its a slip you wouldn't need to restart right?
I did. It was one during a night of drinking a ways back and then never again.

You do make a fair point. I just don't want to argue.

I know !!!!.....
But if you smoke just one ...your a relapser ....full stop.....
How bad your a relapser doesn't matter ...
So your a smoker ....if you didn't relapse....you would be a non smoker ...
I couldn't see what was making you curious .......you smoked .....
No, I didn't. What reason would I have to lie about it to strangers?
I don't want to argue. It's a simple question.

Your either a smoker or your not ....so it doesn't really matter ......
That wasn't my question. Even smokefree.gov distinguishes between slip and relapse: "Slips are having a cigarette or two after you quit. A relapse means going back to smoking regularly."

Just for the purpose of my own curiosity: generally speaking, how many cigarettes worth of slip did it take to get you fully relapsed to an active addiction (i.e. square 1)?
Thanks,
Matthew

It's gone. The cravings unfortunately remain for right now, but the tobacco is gone.

And I still have access. I didn't trash my stash, so to say. Maybe I should.
No, there's still some around.

Good on you for posting Matthew, if you're around other smokers then you should probably call it a night.
Thank you! Right now I'm at home.

I'm feeling very heavy cravings after consuming alcohol. What's your advice to outlast the situation?
Thank you,
Matthew

Wow!!...There is a first time for everything ..!!!!
Matthew...
You came here asking for help ....
Help comes in many ways ....some give hard facts ...thier experience,s....
Some come along and slap you with a feather....
It doesn't matter as long as you get help in your Nicotine Addiction ....
If you don't need my help ..that's ok ....take what you need , and leave the rest .
Look, I'm sorry, just mind the fact that tone and body language don't convey in the written word. In my head it read that you were snapping at me. I may have been wrong, but that's just how it felt at the time. But everybody's thoughts have been expressed and heard and now I think it's time for us to walk away from this. I'm sorry that I overreacted.

How about the fact that smokers who get Covid-19 are at higher risks of hospitalization or even death? Would that motivate you enough?
Please read the post again.

Believe me ....You dont !!!......
This is a Addiction ....and a life killing Addiction .....
It's the junkie monkey talking ,when you say your having trouble finding a reason to Quit ...
How about not dying of a horrible smoking related illness that could have you suffering for years ..
How about having your limbs amputated ???
I'm thinking these two things are a wonderful reason to quit ..
Spend time Reading and watching the videos here .....All will come clear ...
What's your problem? There's no reason to be so aggressive.

What I'm having the most trouble with as to getting the momentum going is finding motivation. I know I should quit but I'm having trouble finding a really good, meaningful reason. I've done it before but this time I'm severely lacking willpower on it. Which is really how I end up doomed. The best I can do at this time is just tell myself "stop for a month and see how you feel." I know about the health risks, cost, etc, but that oddly isn't hacking it. What do you think? Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

For a while, everything was going great, really. But something snapped. Something changed. I'm *really* struggling right now. Every bit of me wants to keep up the quit, but that little monster is creeping in. Advice or kind words?
