  1. First mrsguest, everything you are experiencing is completely normal! Most of us had insomnia in the beginning of our quits. This can last a couple months or more but not always. Remember everyone is different. As far as sick of candy/suckers, try maybe popsicles instead? You can even make your own with Kool-Aid. Yummy :) AND it will help those sores.

The runny nose could be a sinus infection, again, not uncommon when quitting. Or it could be something as simple as allergies that now that your sense of smell has returned is getting triggered by something. Always, if anything is particularly bothersome go see your dr. never a bad idea after quitting and they get so happy to hear you've quit :)

Congratulations on 7 days, that's hell week done and dusted. I'll pm you my address for that $20.00 🤣

    Ps. cute pic :)

  2. I'm sorry about your dad mrsguest, my dad and his little brother (my uncle) both died of smoking related cancer. My uncle in 2000 and my dad just two years later and I too continued to smoke until 2016.

We can't change the past. Be proud that you have now quit because I know your dad would be proud :)

  3. Great to hear from you hellkat, sorry about your work causing you added stress you don't need 😞 I agree with Linda on both the listening to your body and finding another therapist. It's important right now for you to be able to get your feelings out to someone neutral. Xoxo

  4. Thank you for checking in Richard, the whole first year is the hardest. Be it quitting or the death of a loved one 😞 Smoking can and for most of us did produce brain fog for some time when we first quit. I can't remember how long it was for me but it was a good couple of months. Hopefully you'll get some answers soon and be on the road to feeling better at least physically.

I'll be keeping you in my thoughts...……...

  5. Thank you for the update hellkat, I'm glad that the chemo pill hasn't caused extra side effects. And I'm glad you're getting your energy back. Just remember to listen to your body and not overdo it.

I drink Boost plus to help me gain and keep weight on. They have 360 calories each plus lots of protein and vitamins.

Orlando sounds like a fun time with your sis, the weather should be nicer then too :)

  6. Sorry you didn't make it to your sisters today but glad you're listening to your body and taking that much needed rest. When I first quit smoking I was exhausted for months so I can't imagine going through what you are on top of that.

I hope the CBD helps you get that full nights sleep you need 😘

  7. Those wigs are really pretty hellkat I favor the first one best too  :) I like Jordan's idea about your mask. Maybe crayons or magic markers? Maybe your local craft store would have some more ideas.

Have fun at the lake house today and you're doing awesome on your quit too! :)

  8. Sorry about the hair loss hellkat, I'm glad they warned you it could happen so it wasn't a total surprise to you. Your dog's are awesome, no one's getting around their mommy without you knowing it lol.

I'm glad you found a place near you to get your hair shaved off. I bet they have tons of clues for you as far as where to get wigs, hats, turbans, etc as well as other clues to navigate this storm.

I know I've said this a few times but I'm in awe of your positive outlook and how you are handling everything. It's really something impressive and I wish I had that quality in me, xoxo.

  9. One day at a time hellkat, it's working great for you so I agree there's no reason to look too far down the rabbit hole. As far as going crazy in the house, maybe you could visit your local animal shelter and take some dogs for a walk or spend time with the cats and bunnies. There's also rest homes with people who have no family who would love to see a positive friendly face :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
