  1. Oright, so due to a seating reshuffle at work I now sit downstairs (yep that's my knees cheering) in a dark little corner surround by colleges young enough to be my kids... so the play pen... it's a daily reminder of how old I am and how vast the generation gap is.. So to give you an idea we are a culturally diverse group and the kids were talking about what natos they get mistaken for when they go out... J1.. (Anglo-Indian) I get mistaken for a Leb (Lebanese) all the time. J2.. (Turkish)... yeah I get that and Greek and Italian. K.. (Serb) ... I get Greek or Turkish. Me.. (very white Australian)...I know what you mean when I go out people mistake me for a Skip all the time. (So back in the day Skip was slang for a white European Aussie) J1, J2, K ... huh?? .... wots a Skip Me... (in shock)... um a Skip, you know Skippy the Bush kangaroo? J1... wots skippy the bush Kangaroo Me... wot you talkin bout Willace? (Which illicitly more blank stares as it flew right over their heads... Skippy was an old TV show, it was like the Aussie version of Lassie...except Skippy was a kangaroo. So the children all look at each other blankly then I get.. J2.. um Jo, wots Lassie. Me... just google it... it'll be on you tube.
  2. There was that 1 time I drank a bottle of vodka and thought I was the reincarnation of Bob Marley and serenaded the entire motel complex from the pool at 3am in the morning....and now we mention the pool was a) outside and b) not heated and it was the middle of winter and about 1deg C.... I know someone has photos showing me with smurf blue toes. No idea what Boones Farm is.
  3. CONGRATS Well done on a decade of smoke free life and also for hanging up the badge. Thanks for all you've done here to get our window lickin arses over the smoke free line.
  4. 5. Chicken & Champagne (breakfast) for the horse races, especially Melbourne Cup.
  5. 7. Rub on the inside of your dress pants/shirts when ironing to make sure you get parade quality razor seams.
  6. Oh would you look at that....just got s fizzchick message in from good old Lord Slippy Dippy Doodah.... 2. Four n twenty meat pies .... with tomato sauce.... for the Footy (ausdie rules)
  7. Oright, oright, oright.... what's 8 foods you associate with watching sport.... 1. Strawberries and cream ... for tennis, well namely Wimbeldon.
  8. This is a guilty pleasure because it's the club song for the team that's not my club.... For any of you Northern mob wondering wot you just listened to, that is the theme song for Carlton Footy Club (Aussie Rules Football)... each club has their own song and the players sing if after a win.
  9. So this one really is a guilty pleasure....I only listen to it in the car..and only when I'm alone because it's a bit cringe to confess I like this....
  10. So this one's for @Boo to add to his annoying songs list...give it some Aussie flavour...and here's a confession...I went to see this band gig live cos of this song....evidence that my youth was indeed misspent .. I apologise now for the ear worm.
  11. Having a cuppa in the car for some peace n quiet. I hate shopping. I really hate cloths shopping with my teenage daughter. Argh...and the shop chick who just had to say "your doing so well mum" while I was counting to ten and contemplating the merits of punching said daughter in the face.
  12. Yep bechamel is easy and so very adaptable.... use coconut oil (the solid type) and add some ginger, curry and garlic to a bechemal for a quick curry base add to use up (left over) chicken meat and steamed veggies...quick easy meal.
  13. Wouldn't that mean it's just a bechamel sauce?
  14. No suprise I'm not a monarchist and don't believe that the randomness of who your parents are makes you special BUT if I have to live under a queens rule she was a pretty good one to have had. Her actions where what made her special.
  15. Right now I'm baking cupcakes for R U OK morning tea at work today. Fakon...fake bacon is gross ... I do eat tofu but would so love a slice of bacon...last slice of bacon I had saw me in hossy on an iv for 2 days. Oh well I have shellfish and some white fish to get me through.
  16. Adding items to the bucket list... visit the Cavern Club. I'd add Buc-ees but tipping there ain't no Vegan section. Oh now I'm lamenting my involuntary veganism. Posting in the wrong thread... it's clearly a bad adhd day and the random thoughts are flying.
  17. I reckon the Cavern Club is like a pub or similar that has live acts.... then I'm guessing the Mersey Beats is a cover band that plays music with Liberpool late 50s early 60s sound like The Beatles or Gerry and The Pacemakers or The Liverbirds, The Hollies, The Quarrymen and even early days of The Kinks. It's just that Mersey Sound. So right now I'm wondering @Doreensfree...am I right...and was it good fun?
  18. H7nting FOOTY is what we çall football, and by football we mean Aussie Rules (Australian Rules) although @Cbdave might mean rugby league when he says footy, which is silly really because they hardly ever kick the ball. Aussie Rules is the greatest sport you've never heard of. It's older than American Footy ball, baseball, basketball. It was invented in my home town of Melbourne and is a hybrid of manrook (an aboriginal game), Gaelic football and rugby. The Melbourne Football Club is the oldest sport club in any sport in the world. Here is a YouTube video the AFL Australian Football League made to promote and explain the game to the USA. So on Saturday I had a few mates (blokes and chicks) playing in Grand Finals (premiership cup games). Check this out..
  19. Sunburnt nose... I did not protect the skin I inherited from the sun and while this is not me it is pretty much how my face looked...now it's just blisters and peeling..
  20. Wouldn't miss old cobsie's anniversary month....especially when we all pretend to forget and he gets his blue tighty whities in a twist..
  21. Glad to read your back onto a quit. Pretty much anything I can say here has already been said. So maybe some advice that helped me... you only have to quit for one day... don't focus on forever or for a year... just focus on 1 day... you quit for a month last time so you know you can quit for 1 day.. each morning, wake up and say to yourself "NOPE, I will not smoke today, it's 1 day, I can do that, I've done that, yep I got this just 1 day"... then the next morning you repeat. You are tricking your brain, in the moment you are telling yourself I only have to quit for 1 day it's not long, I can do it.... and you can, easily... the stupid part of your brain that wants to smoke goes.. cool we are smoking tomorrow, the pressures off...but then first thing next morning the smart part of your brain goes "NOPE, I will not smoke today, it's just 1 day I can do that, I've done that, yep I got this just one day".... strangely the stupid part of your brain, the bit that wants to smoke, forgets that you made the same deal the day before and it goes.. yep only hanging out today I'm getting a smoke tomorrow.... but it's not, and it gets easier each day. Oh and tip with the Air Cigarette don't use a pen, I kept drawing back too hard and getting a mouth full of ink...the air cigarette was much better... or a pencil.
  22. First Sunday in September down under.... so today.
  23. Lying on the couch looking at Monty Carlo ingredients on the bench to cook for my dad for fathers day feeling sorry for myself because I didn't slip Slop Slap at the footy yesterday and now I have a burnt nose.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
