I caved in too buddy and fell off board myself. Felt a real disappointment, I'm back now though and on Day 3 again today, You CAN join me. At least you've not lost all hope & want to still quit! Come on let's do it Rhino

  6. Just finished making these. I thought they were cute. I found a remote control light that is battery operated and an electric one with a remote. They can be set with 16 different colors or set to rotate the colors. I thought I could sell them to other campers and friends to fund some of our travels. They are made out of a simple paint bucket. camp lights.mp4

  10. It's so awesome seeing you guys support each other in your first year quit. Having my fellow 2016 Butt Kickers quitting alongside me really helped me in my quit know that I wasn't alone in my struggles. Some of us had an easier time than others but we were all in it together. Add to that the wise words of the Olde Phartes who had already traveled that path and its a recipe for success.

  11. Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement, I am retired now but my point of the things I have done in life quitting smoking seems to the hardest. Obviously I have done many hard and difficult things but this is the hardest and that make me sad.

  16. You two need to cut yourself some slack. The cigarette companies put the crap in their cigarettes that keep you addicted. I don't know where I read it, but they saying quitting smoking can be worse than quitting heroin. Most of us that smoked also relied on it as a comfort mechanism. I smoked for 42 years and have been quit for two years. You will reach a point where you will not be romancing smoking. Everyday you put it behind you, the stronger you become. Retirement is a time to enjoy life and not spend it dealing with health issues.

  24. I have incredible respect for you and what you do. So, with that being said I totally believe in you. You just need to believe in yourself. You can and will defeat this nasty nicotine monster. Fight to keep your quit because you're worth it.

  26. Linda, you have to believe us when we promise it won't always be a struggle. It does get so much better. Surely by now you've noticed your sense of taste and smell coming back? How about your hands and feet, are they nice and warm now from the improvement in circulation? Those are the things you focus on, not the negatives. I know its easier said then done but I had a hard quit too so I know I was my own worst enemy! Don't be me.

  27. If you haven't watched the Tobacco Company ,s Documentaries here ...I strongly suggest you do. This was my turning point ...my lightbulb moment ... They have been adding more crap over then years to make sure we all stayed addicted .... We just all fell for the trap ....

  30. Hi Deb: Not yet, we postponed the trip a week. worried about the road to the ranch being flooded and unpassable. This Monday is the get going day, Monday thru Thursday,. Man I love it up there, so many animals, deer, Turkey, wild Boar, quail Beautiful. Rolling Green hills, sections of wooded area surrounded by meadows. Wake up to turkeys gobbling and the thunder flapping of there wings coming of of there roost, the fawns will eat out of your hand just amazing place to be. Its going to be a bit different this time, only two of us and I will be in my camper by my self, so I will have a retreat if necessary. I am absolutely not purchasing any smoking or vaping products to go with me, so crave or not I will not have anything to smoke, ( can't smoke what you don't have ) Yes Jim it has been a long time and I am happy no one has gotten to spank you with wet noodles. You have always been a rock. This time around I have been given a real good reason and an inspiration to keep my quit and no matter what i felt about smoking I value my life much more. I do so appreciate you all and am proud to refer Quit train to Others. and also appreciate being able to come back when I have lapsed without being Judged, I hope to share in the inspiration and strength you all provide.

  31. Of course you can do this, Kdad. Commit to taking it one day at a time and not smoking each day. Realize that nothing good comes from smoking. They cycle of quitting and relapsing is a tortuous one. I know. I did that too. Quitting for good will give you freedom.

  32. Hi Kdad.... You need to go back to the very beginning .... Pick a quit day ( today sounds good )..... Read all the post,s that are green pinned on the main board .... Watch all Joel video,s ..... Your missing something ....you still believe the cigerette offers you something.... You need to get your head in the right place ...take your seat ..buckle up ....and stay seated ... You can do it ....you know you can ....only one rule ....Don't Smoke No Matter What ... Take your daily pledge again ...to make it happen ....

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
