  1. Good morning all, Today is day nine and doing ok. Seems like this week is a bit tougher than last. I think I am still dealing with what to do with my newly found time in a day not smoking. Not that big of a problem, but just doing other things. I also smoked more in the morning, so once I get past that should be good. I guess I think about it more in the AM. Overall, I don't feel any better health wise, but I do realize I did my body a big favor by stopping this non-sense. I still feel good about this and looking forward to getting another day under my belt. Cheers.

  4. All sounds like good advice from you all. Speaking of feeling the effects of smoking there was a reason I really started thinking about quitting. Here in California we had again, terrible fires going on. It seemed like months the air quality was terrible. Of course I was smoking and breathing in terrible air. I started to feel it in my lungs and my throat. I had never experienced that before. Pretty crazy, but I would go outside with smoke filled air to smoke! I also noticed walking up stairs, my breathing wasn't heavy, but was different. The combination of smoke filled air and cigarette smoke really was starting to get to me. I started thinking if I don't stop, I will at some point not be able to do the things I like to do. So that is really when I had my "oh shit, I need to stop" moment. Then it took me a bit to actually do it. Again, it really helps me not being around smokers right now. My local watering hole has a patio and of course that's where the smokers hang. I don't have to worry about that, as my watering hole is closed now anyway due to Covid. I guess my point to all this rambling on is, now is a really good time to quit for me. ok, gotta run. j

  10. @Dogbelly You are doing Very Well! You have the right attitude to get this done! I am also early in this quit. I just wanted to tell you that over time, not smoking, you will be able to breath better. Maybe not like you never smoked, but definitely better. I always feel like I can breath deeper even after just a few days of not smoking. Good Luck To You!

  11. I didn't notice any dramatic shift in how I felt physically for the first few weeks; didn't feel any worse, didn't feel any better. The actual timeline is a bit murky in my mind at this point and everybody is different. Seems like it was around the end of the Month One that I noticed my energy levels going up and my mood improving. It felt like a weight had been lifted. Drive on Dogbelly, you're going in the right direction.

  18. Hey Dogbelly, its going to take some time to start really feeling the benefits of quitting and start feeling better. Right now your body is busy busy trying to clean up the junk from smoking. This takes a little time and for me I actually felt a little worse before I started feeling better. You are doing great so hang in there and give your body time to recover

  22. Thanks, Linda. I’m still quit but I’m surprised I’m still married! LOL I’m so cranky I can’t stand being around myself. I’d like to get away from me, but everywhere I go, there I am. I hope you’re doing it with a happier face than I am. Hang in there.

  27. I'm trying not to get too excited but it appears we're getting another week of winter starting tomorrow! And rain!! So since I missed the other week of winter in December I'm going to try to make up for it by either cooking beef stew or potato soup. Decisions, decisions

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
