  12. Tell us one thing you couldn't do as a smoker that you're now able to do. Me: Hiking/Backpacking. Will be heading off on a 9 day backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in a few weeks. Here's a pic along the trail. Humphrey's Basin

  16. Congrats on day 7 Steven. One whole week! Your struggles aren't over yet but the worst of it is in that you will get more and more "comfortable" days going forward and the benefits of quitting will start becoming more and more evident! It's all good from here on providing you stay committed to nope!

This is absolutely true Stephen but now you can also see many people just like you have broken free from their addiction and this is also possible for you and anyone else who believes in themselves and wants to be a nonsmoker! Soon you will start focusing on the positives you are already seeing (have you checked your wallet lately?)

  25. Hello friends I'm not in danger of smoking but having some strong cravings today which is weird cuz the last few days have been a breeze. I'm firmly dedicated to NOPE but I guess I thought if I "said" (typed) this out loud it would take the power out of it. How are all of you? Anyone have anything exciting going on today? Big bunch o nothing here so let me live vicariously through you!

Watering my lawn at the moment cuz it's hot and dry here so I hope that gives you as much excitement as it did for me You're still pretty early in your quit so it's to be expected that you will still have some very difficult days. It's your junkie brain trying a different way to overpower your logical brain. In the very early days (first couple of weeks or so) your junkie brain tries to get you to smoke again by keeping constant pressure of withdralaw on us, hoping we'll just say screw it, I'm gonna smoke again. Later on (about where you would be now) the tactic changes to, we'll I'm gonna back off for a bit then hit that junkie with a gig shot of crazy withdrawal because they figure they have me beat by now. Both tactics are tough to deal with but at least now you have honed some pretty significant quit tools and know how and when to use them so take these tough cravings in stride and just keep noping! Those challenges will eventually wither and die.

  27. Hey Jack ! Congratulations on your THREE YEARS of Freedom ! I remember feeling so great at three years, all my patterns and associations with smoking were seriously in the past and I had a solid understanding that my future would never ever never include nicotine again. Have some fun, some celebration and of course, rewards. The crowd cheers for you, I can hear them from here.

  33. Congrats Linda! Almost 2 full weeks now! It's a real slog for the first while but you're knocking off those days one at a time which is what we all did! Things will start to turn around soon. It does gradually get better and better all the time so hang in there and keep putting one foot in front of the other. You'll make it by doing that (and noping) every day!

  34. Well, if you don't know how you're going to get through it, chanced are, you won't. You wouldn't go on a road trip to a far away destination without a map would you? If you did, you'de never get there. Same rule applies with quitting smoking. You need a plan. You can't just wing it or you'll be setting yourself up for failure. Live and breathe on this board. Read, read and then read some more. Post a LOT. Post every day. Post 20 times a day. Whatever you have to do to learn how to quit successfully. You can do this. Believe me, if I can quit, you can too!
