Thank you all for the warm welcome back. I'm humbled by it. Not quite 100% yet but getting there slowly. Good to be back among friends again, especially with what's going on around us all these days. Glad to see everybody's doing well and that there are a lot of new quitters too! That's what it's all about after all. More Quitters!10 points

hello darcy, first let me admit that i love how gently and so beautifully you post. it gladdens the reader and that is something very few of us can lay claim to. so thank you for the posts - no - not just this one. i think a quit is more mental than physical. i just used my strongest flaws to quit. turned them into my strengths i am stubborn as hell - extreme as hell - just bribed these two to get on my side, lol i need to quit - not want to quit : that sums it all up. i am so happy that you liked the pic, that is so awesome to hear . i am not hulk - lol, wish i were - lol. take care and thank you so much for all that inspiration and joy you spread. you are so sacred to all of us out here .5 points

Kinky is as kinky does. Is a threesome still considered kinky ? I though that was so 1980's already. lol.4 points

And I just noticed when I reacted to this post, the comment below read "You and Mee reacted to this." Wait, what...who said that?4 points

Pretty sure I should be getting 2-4-1 each time I play Chicks or Sticks, given the time I've been away4 points

A line from this one is especially pertinent right now, "Experience, not time is what is going to determine how long it is before you break all of the different associations that you may have with cigarettes." It's an answer to a question that puzzled me a few times when I realized how many triggers there have been in the past few days. Another trigger today while I was waiting out at my car at the veterinarian while the vet examined my small dog. (Turned out the bump I found on her shoulder was a cyst, harmless.) Because of the virus, no one is allowed in the vet clinic anymore, except employees. So I stood by my car in the sun, craving a smoke. It was another place where I smoked in the past, but hadn't come up again since I quit smoking until today. Guess I can chalk off that one for rewiring an experience to a nonsmoking event.3 points

Dealing with difficult people is a perfect opportunity to practice detachment. It's something I've been working on a lot over the last couple of years. Mentally step back from the situation when you feel any stress, anxiety, anger, chaos...take a little pause for the cause, and calmly evaluate your options. You have no control over what they do. You have complete control over how you respond.3 points

I would agree - throw out the smokes. If you have to make a trip out to buy more, at least you have time to think about what you are doing and perhaps change your mind. You've started something major in your life (quitting). Why would you go back now? Do everything you can to be successful! Sleeping with the devil (keeping some smokes handy) undermines your chances of success.3 points

Keep strong Kate ....smoking wouldn't change anything ....deep breaths !!!3 points

You are still young in your quit, Kate. Keep in mind that you may experience triggers coming seemingly out from nowhere when smoking is far from your mind, your consciousness. Hold to NOPE. Each trigger is a brain receptor that hasn't gotten the memo yet. You Quit Smoking. Some triggers are automatic responses, like listening to Mothers fret, lol. Some, just old patterns that no longer serve us. Don't worry, these receptors will all be reclaimed and habits are soon discouraged. You are doing so great.3 points

Wondering why I'm just now realizing that an exclamation point is just an upside down lowercase I? Or have I always known this and just forgot?3 points

I've been hit several times today like that, sneaking up when I wasn't expecting it. Another tense moment in a movie, and before that, while listening to my almost-90 year old mother on the phone. I used to pass the time smoking while I listened to her for 30-40 minutes at a time. Her hobby is complaining, and there is no sense in pointing out how many good things she has in her life. Always made me want to smoke.3 points

Welcome aboard AK. Good call on giving up the smokes. Cigarettes kill. They take everything and give nothing in return. Food provides nutritional sustenance and, done right, can be delicious. Looks like a good trade to me.3 points

Hey Hh, Just wondering how the weekend shaped up for you. Just reread this thread. Amazing!!! You are FREE. What an incredible turn of events. Considering you had no idea you were quitting and once the idea came about ... YOU quit. Chuckled and nodded at your posting of THIS IS THE QUIT because once you give your all, it is all or nothing. I can relate. My last relapse lasted around 5 years. I had the mindset (of which I am usually VERY SET on some things) that once I picked up smoking again it was a forever thing. BELIEVED that junkie thinking, too....for almost 5 years. Surprised and grateful beyond words that my belief was terribly wrong. I have quit. Yay! Really glad you are clicking along on the QT track. We have sticky quits!!! The photo from the ship deck..... thanks for sharing that bit of beauty and awe. you got this.3 points
