  13. In a pinch if ya don't have any bug spray you can use extra hold hair spray..spiders are covered in hairs and it freezes them. Also with the funnel webs they are so easy to catch (listened to the man on Canberra radio explain how to do it) if you see one walking you just put a glass jar in front of it and it will walk straight in. Never knew they couldn't hurt dogs and cats with their venom. How weird.

  15. G’day Lived for years in the Nth of Sydney which is funnel web central. You have to approach them with a bit of common sense. They are a bug. They live on the ground. Everything tries to either eat them or tread on them so they hide. You just don’t leave anything on the floor. Children just have to learn no to leave thier cloths or towels or shoes on the floor or else the spiders will get you. Works ....great motivator spiders. Must admit can’t put a shoe on these days without shaking it out. Like I said they are just a bug. Can’t take out a bear or tiger or lion with a can of insect spray can you but my wife can dispatch one of these buggers with ease. Takes about 1/2 a can and the poor beggars die of frost bite from the propellant evaporating long before the poison kills them. Dogs and cats don’t react to the venom like humans. My animals had a grand time stir one up and it will have a go at you..... they had a ball till the legs fell off their new toy. So my job was easy just pick up the leg less or 1/2 frozen carcasses for disposal.

  18. I'm 144 hours quit today cold turkey! That's 6 whole days! I have thanks to my God, Jehovah at my Christian meeting last night and picked up some very useful witnessing tips for the field ministry. Once I've eradicated nicotine from my body I'll be able to dedicate myself to Jehovah God publically by water baptism and qualify for the futuristic eternal paradise Earth.

  19. The higher the price the sweeter the prize. When the price is paid in agony & doubt the payoff becomes a treasure. You do not quit. You change...habits, perspectives, values. "Change is painful, but nothing is as painful as being stuck somewhere you don't belong." - Mandy Hale "Change is never painful. Only the resistance to change is painful" - Siddhartha Gautama <== I like this quote but I've not evolved far enough to walk that way.

  21. I have no selfies. I am swimming and walking 2 mi 3/4 days a week. Losing the 30lbs @bakon added to my last photo. Getting strong, feeling well. Painting. Sewing. Writing. Fighting Rats in my courtyard. Listening to a lot of great tunes and making various playlists on a streaming site. Cooking really well and looking forward to visit from Daughter/Spouse/Father-In-Law and also Jazz Fest guests for whom I will make my Legendary Gumbo and have the sit down feast for 12. V. inspired by all my darling smoke free creatures here. Wishing I could help my two smoking friends in real life, they struggle so. Cold Turkey on A Whim Quit Six Years and Three Months The Best Decision I Ever Made Oh ! Quit Caffeine over a year ago and kind of accidentally, starting my third month alcohol free, thinking of staying sober for a year as a challenge and see how I like it. Quitting smoking has made it easier to honestly examine my life and be willing and able to change patterns that no longer serve me.

  24. Linda 537 days quit I have entered the next phase of my life. I turned 65 yrs old yesterday.. My husband retired on December 31st. I do find he is a little hooked to my hip but it is wonderful to pick up and do what we want. I hope we can navigate this new period of our lives with little bumps. Hopefully quitting smoking gives us more time together and we stay healthy. I did gain quite a few quit smoking pounds but started the new year dieting. My husband and I have both lost 8 pounds each.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
