  2. I'm really feeling glad and happy I've managed to achieve 120 hours of smoking and nicotine replacement therapy cessation. I've been drinking water, Sainsbury's diet Cola and walking round the block and back to distract my mind from my craves. I'm going to my Christian religion meeting tonight to pray, sing kingdom songs and receive holy spirit. That strengthens me.

  4. I was desperate.... It was mind boggling and I didn't have any answers!! It seemed as though everyone else around me knew how to but I didn't!!!! Oh how frustrating I felt, how is it possible for them and not ME!!! I did it exactly the way they said to do it. Nothing. I'm stronger than that person, I know it should have worked!!( I said to myself) She's not really trying hard and its working for her! What's the deal? Why not me? Well.....until I went WAY DOWN inside of me and made a FIRM, NO TURNING BACK DECISION to NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PUFF!!! Did it begin to work!!! I couldn't believe it! IT WAS WORKING FOR ME!!!!!! Day after day, it was working. Don't get me wrong...some days I had to fight like HECK!! But It is so worth the fight!!! Just a few lines to encourage those coming through the ranks to not give up on yourself!!!! YOU can make this journey If you only believe !!!!

  5. My thinking was like yours @QueenB. I just could not quit. I even became resolved to the fact that I would die of a smoking related illness. Is that sad? I was resolved to the fact I was killing myself! I tried everything to quit and was never successful. I accidentally came across this forum and found a whole cheering section. These people let me know that I had the power to do it. I feel as if they took my hands and guided me to the finish line. If you are lurking on the forum, know that we are here to help you find success. You can quit.

  20. The higher the price the sweeter the prize. When the price is paid in agony & doubt the payoff becomes a treasure. You do not quit. You change...habits, perspectives, values. "Change is painful, but nothing is as painful as being stuck somewhere you don't belong." - Mandy Hale "Change is never painful. Only the resistance to change is painful" - Siddhartha Gautama <== I like this quote but I've not evolved far enough to walk that way.

  24. Saturday starts the year of the rat! Here's what Wikipedia had to say: The Jade Emperor and the race for zodiacal place[edit] A popular modern story has it that the order of the animals in the twelve-year cycle was due to a competition between animal candidates, held by the ruler of Heaven, Earth, and Hell -- the Jade Emperor. According to one version of this tale, the emperor's advisors selected twelve candidates from among the animal types, including the rat and the cat. The winner was to be selected based upon merit, as to personal appearance, lifestyle, and contributions to the world. Before the competition, the cat asked the rat for a wake up call in order to get to the show on time; however, the rat apprehensive of the competition, especially as to the cat's apparent beauty, did not wake the cat, who then overslept (and, ever afterwards, the embittered cat became a ratter and a mouser). The Jade Emperor mystified as to why there were only eleven candidate animals to show up inquired of his servants. These servants hastily acquired the first possible replacement animal which they encountered, (a pig). After the start of the competition, the rat achieved first place by performing on the flute while upon the back of the ox. Impressed, the Jade Emperor placed the rat at the beginning of the twelve year cycle (and the ox second, for being so generous as to allow the rat to play the flute upon the ox's back). Then the other animals were placed in order according to the Jade Emperor's judgment. You and Wee fluffy are clearly in league with the cats.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
