  7. I persevered with the account/profile settings on the site and managed to update my quitdate to 18th January 2020. There's a little pen over my profile picture and it enabled me to edit my profile. Awesome!

  10. NOPE!!!!!!!!!!!! Sad to say I will not be posting much from this point on. At this time I need to focus on looking to the west and try to enjoy the sunset. I thank you all for you have been such a blessing and have done more for me than you will ever know. The support and socializing have been amazing and contributed so much to my quit. Stay the course and stay strong for the quit -- the journey has been and will be worth it!!!!!!!

  12. G’day Got blocked carotid arteries. Caused a series of “TIAs” so called mini strokes. None of the usual boxes are ticked except (ex) smoker and over 60 (just). Shit! I’m an ex smoker and this still happens! They unblock one side surgically. Next Stoke lands me in the major stroke ward. Pretty scared I spend my time trying to remember who’s the current prime minister and what date is it. Theres not much sleep to be had and apparently I was there for 2 days but it seemed like overnight. I walk out but 2 got out with blankets over their heads. I survived but others didn’t. I was a 3 year non smoker. That was my mantra. I kept telling them I gave up 10th oct 2015. Who gives a shit what date it was that day. I survived cause I’d given the smokes away. Gave me the edge. Had to earn the right (sensibly) to drive again. Was able to keep working part time. Just. That was a year ago. Still can’t remember much from that time but I’m still here. And happy to be that non smoker! Yep happy to give myself that title. Not One Puff Ever Chris

  17. I still belong to a pro-smoking site (the admin told me that there is no way to delete or cancel accounts). Since I can’t delete my account, I will login occasionally and post subliminal “you don’t love smoking, you’re addicted” messages or indirect “anti-smoking“ messages/replies in random threads. Who knows maybe it makes someone start thinking seriously about quitting

  27. This is so sickening, I am trying to see what could have prompted these comments, could it be when they banned smoking indoors? I know it doesn't really matter but just trying to work out why the comments were made in the first place.

  31. Oh you v. naughty Beautiful one ! I am so glad you have made the right decision to quit. Cold turkey isn't nothing to be afraid of. You have embarked on a wonderful journey, John. Watch your blood sugar. Have plenty of cold water. Take walks to clear your head and break up a smoking routine. This thread may help you, it is a collection of things that helped all of us through the early days Your First Week Nicotine Free and go through all the materials I linked for you as well as meander around the site. In between learning all you can about nicotine addiction there is a vibrant social section with games, music and fun posts to enjoy, please drop in. Yay ! YOU QUIT SMOKING ! Celebrations are in order.

  32. Thank you all for your very motivating advice comments. I'm now officially back on my Smoking Cessation Programme, hence my Quit. I'm also doing it Cold Turkey, with no NRT whatsoever. You're right, I was a very naughty Aspie in my poorly implemented decision to smoke this morning and then irresponsibly pass the buck on to my Caregiver. Shane on me! I want to let you all know that I value this internet resource and the fine people participating in it. NOPE forever!

  34. We are so lucky to have you on the planet and have you helping us here on QTrain, Chris. Hope you are mending well and savoring each and every day. The sooner people quit smoking the less risk they will have of stroke, heart disease, and a plethora of other, sometimes fatal, health issues. Life is too precious to smoke it all away. S You know, I may still die of a smoking related illness but, the quality of my life has vastly improved with being smoke/nicotine free The quality of my death is something I think about and I will not be tortured by feeding the addiction or be in withdrawals. I will die a free person.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
