  1. I am doing waaaay better than last week! I have had a great night and day with my boyfriend and I've thought about smoking once. And it was in a different way then before. I think it's actually weird that I have been a smoker for so long. I love being a non smoker.. the deep breaths, the freshness of it all.. Addiction is still there and pulling, but I am finding solid ground and have firm grip... so the pull is not as annoying as it was... *happy*

  6. I didn't realize I was romancing the cigarette, or that I am missing something, I am glad the cigarette is out of my life, I used to romance it, but then so did a lot of people on the movies in particular. I think my thoughts are mostly on trying to loose weight now, and this might be me romancing "my cake" I am missing my cake but I have devised a new Mantra for this. Called I love savoury eats, not sweet eats. I don't know how long this will last, but it might sink into my brain soon if I say it often enough. I can remember giving up sugar in my coffee and tea a very long time (decades) ago and was quite miserable for a while. Thanks for caring

  8. When you totally understand this addiction ,when you see how the Big Tabacco Companies ..work so hard to make sure we ..the poor smokers stay hooked for life ... There is nothing left to Romance ..... poison......they have been poisoning us .... It's so slowly we are unaware.....it's only when are bodies carnt cope with it anymore ....it develops a chronic illness most of them fatal... COPD is nothing to Romance ..trust me .....you really don't want to have this in your life ....

  13. Thank you for this....This could totally be me. I've ridden the same roller coaster and when my mom was diagnosed with Gastric cancer I started smoking more and here I am a year and a half after her death realizing that I have to do it today. There's always an excuse, bargaining. I'm gonna be stronger this time! I will definitely come back to read this in my times of weakness.

  17. I have the same challenge with intense craving in my car. I smoked in my car ALOT - I have an hour long commute and this was my alone time and puff puff puff - I am only 2 weeks in and guess what I still have the most cravings in my car - But I am finding ways to get around them - I suck on a tootsie pop - and when that is gone I chew on the stick. It isn't always pretty but I am getting to work smoke free - getting home smoke free- some days are easier than others - but these little tricks do work.

  22. Fish to horses....yep on it... So the VRC gets Dazza to sing this before the Cox Plate every year .. cept one year when they got a ringing to cover it...the good ole Melbourne crowd chanted "we want Darryl" over the other singer and Noone heard a word once he stopped the crowd sang the song instead...couple of years later they tried to skip the song ...race was delayed until the crowd had finished singing it because the couldn't start the national anthem cos of the noise... Nearly 20 years later Dazza's still singing his song before the Cox plate.

  28. The morning "Zoo Crew" on KZ-106 in Chattanooga used to play that song all the time. I had forgotten all about it. Now I begin the process of trying to forget it again...right back to square one.

  29. Repetition and time are powerful tools. With patience and persistence, not only can you change your thoughts but also rewire your brain. The same way we conditioned ourselves with cigarettes, we can also condition ourselves with positive things.

  30. Around here, Doreen's frying pan is like Thor's Hammer. In the battle between cosmos and chaos experienced during a quit, The Pan of Doreen is the ultimate arbiter of justice. The frying pan is tough but fair.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
