  9. My 2nd and final harvest of Catnip for this year. Just drying it before snipping it up for the kitties. When it's fresh like this, you can sure tell it's from the mint family. Has a noticeable minty aroma. Cats really love this fresh stuff too

  15. Wow, it is day 7 already - time has went by fast, kinda . . .take a look at this mish mash I made up - in no particular order, just a jumbled mess! I have some thoughts to share: First - Everyone is so super helpful here and I am more appreciative than I could ever express. I'd like to mail you all $20 bills & (((hugs))), lol - really. Second - I am sick and tired of suckers. I am open to suggestions that don't involve candy. My mouth is literally sore and there are sores on the roof of my mouth and my tongue from the suckers/candy. Plus it can't be good for my teeth either. Obviously. Third - I am still reeling over the fact that I am nicotine-free! I am so proud I must be beaming! Doing this without NRT's has been a very, very wise choice IMO. Fourth - I still want to smoke But I remain determined NOT TO! NOT ONE MORE PUFF! Other things worth mentioning today I suppose: - I wake up a lot during the night, I never used to do that. A train could roll thru my room & I wouldn't budge. But now I am up every couple hours. - I smell things I never smelled before. My under-eye make-up actually has a scent! I never knew that. So crazy! - Speaking of the nose, mine runs constantly now. It ran a LOT before, but now it's constant, which is making my throat hurt as well. - I can't pretend like I am all happy & nice right now, because I am the opposite. I am quite miserable to be around right now. I snap at people for little reason, etc. I am a very huge bitch (excuse my French, but that's the only way I know how to put it!) - I got a new diamond painting I have been working on, (Jack & Sally) - I will post a pic when I am done. It definitely keeps my mind off smokes! Sorry for the silly pic ... I am a picture person! I think it is important to take lots of pictures for memories and I am a silly girl lol Sorry for the rambling as well! I at least tried to keep it orderly. I just wanted to document this nonsense somewhere.

  16. I love your pictures and the best thing you are doing is staying on the forum. I was addicted to the forum when I first quit. I am still addicted to the forum and love watching quitters like you succeed. I am so grateful to have quit, I have no urge to go back. I was so ashamed of smoking and was so afraid of getting a smoking related illness. I am a little over a year quit and feel that I have been given a second chance at life. Maybe that thought will pop into my head sometime and I will just redirect that thought. Don't let that thought lead you back to smoking. You just completed hell week. You are on your way!!!!!

  17. OK sooooooo - my husband still smokes. In the house! Which is strange because he is not a heavy smoker. He's what I call an "eh" smoker ... one of those people who can kinda take it or leave it. I'm a bit pissed he ain't 'leaving' it more often now that I have gone cold turkey. Truth be told, cigarettes smell real good to me still. I am suffering a bit, and trying not to be a bitch by telling him to take it outside, or whatever. But on the other hand I am pissy because why should I have to freaking ask? Ugh! Thanks, as always, for listening to me vent! I'm still holding strong, my quit is not in danger.

  18. Thanks you all!! I think you all are amazing Hell week? Really?!?! I am excited to know this! Last time I quit for about 3.5 weeks and I have a fuzzy memory of the last part. I am glad I have made it thru!

  19. mrsguest seven days is huge. You should feel so proud. That nose running could really be allergies. They have been saying the pollen has been awful and you live kind of close to me. I drank a lot of water and sucked on ice cubes. Maybe warm tea would be soothing. Remember you have made it through hell week and it will get easier every day. Keep looking ahead and concentrate on that smoke free life!

  20. You went through a bunch of suckers but you weren't the sucker! Good job staying true. Intellectually I'm sure you understand that smoking isn't a reward anymore then tapping your head with a hammer. It will take some time for your emotional and physical expectations to catch up with your conscious decision to forego poison as pleasure. Stay the course.

  25. and this about taking breaks Video explains how most smokers productivity and level of personal comfort are negatively impacted by the chronic need to having to smoke to alleviate the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. Smoking breaks It is amazing what the logic of a smoker is in regarding these little breaks. It starts with a smoker popping into drug withdrawal, breaking his or her train of thought or physical stride, and then saying or thinking to himself or herself, "Oh, I think I need a break, I better go get a cigarette." What you will soon realize after quitting is that you will all of a sudden start projects and then follow them through to completion without taking these breaks. You will generally get them done significantly faster and more accurately for you won't have those constant breaks distracting you from the projects. Soon you will realize the truth of what smoking was doing to you time wise all those years. It was never that you were needing a break and thus going for cigarettes. It was that you were NEEDING cigarettes and then having to take breaks. The week you quit your efficiency may suffer, but you will make up for that lost time in a matter of days, and soon you will find yourself a more efficient person for the rest of your life. To keep this newfound efficiency, as well as all of the other benefits of no longer being controlled by cigarettes is as simple as always remembering now to never take another puff! Joel

  28. I re-claimed my breaks with deep conscious breathing, a few in through nose - out through mouth and the chance to find something of beauty. That light on that leaf, that shadow, cloud, reflection or a happy memory, a little fantasy...a place where I could rest my brain and appreciate some beauty. YOU are doing so great Mrs ! Thank you for sharing your quit with us. Stay close and keep communicating. You are building a sturdy quit. Oh ! Don't forget to give yourself small rewards for every crave/trigger you conquer. Saz

  30. Reading this brought home my own horror.... I was so near to losing my both feet ..so now first hand ...what your Mum is dealing with ... My ankles were black ...and bruised and so sore ... I did take my doctor's advice to try and quit ...I found this place and these wonderful people who I swear got me through it all... My feet were saved ..but I still have some battle scars left ...to remind me ...never take another puff.. I'm sending positive thoughts to your mum ...and the strength to quit ...

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
