  8. Good morning fellow NOPErs so while we stuff our faces for International Sushi Day and our Yankee friends celebrate National Go Fishing Day ( yeah-NAH you mob can keep that, I'd rather play golf and I frickin hate golf) but that thought of fishing makes me wonder, why, when sharks are immune to all known diseases has noone every used this knowledge to make a super vaccine, for everything, I mean come on people what's multiple rows of pointy teeth between mates. And did you know that the average Aussie swallows 3 spiders a year...wot the!... Guess who's sleeping with Gaffa tape on their mouth from now on. So NOPE...not on puff (or eight legged freak of nature) Ever, never again.

  11. Hey Dizzy, you're 3 months quit today - congrats! You're doing a great job in ridding yourself of slavery to cigarettes. 1/4 of the way to completing your 1st year already! Keep up the great work after celebrating this milestone

  13. Helping others is a great way to strengthen your own quit. What you see in others clearly, like junkie thinking, will help you see it in yourself.

  15. Went to get my prescription for my Ventolin rescue inhaler today and saw when they rung me up that the cost was zero. So instead of just keeping quiet I told them and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was generic and my insurance covered it. Since I only have generic drug coverage I've been paying $64.00 a month for it so big savings for me. THEN I cashed in a $5.00 lottery ticket and bought three more of the same tickets with the $15.00 I won AND WON $500.00!!!!!!! So all in all a pretty darn good day

  22. Nicotine has its own negative effects on the body. Taking it in tobacco form just makes it worse (because of thousands of additional chemicals). The fact exists that even with e-cigarettes, Nicotine is being administered in the body. I think Big Tobacco exploits the fact that some consumers of Nicotine may think that "I've quit smoking cigarettes, so I'm safe" and push other Nicotine products which they (Big Tobacco) claim are safe as an alternative to smoking while they (Big Tobacco) are fully aware that Nicotine is harmful no matter what the source. After all which business would want their consumers to stop using their products? There would be no profit in that. Its all about educating oneself about Nicotine and using the knowledge as a tool to stay off it. Some may use alternatives to cigarettes to get their Nicotine fix and eventually taper it off to zero, while others may just quit only cigarettes. So, you make a good point about what the quitter wants to achieve. Quitting is easier said than done though, I still get my craves, although they have reduced in frequency as compared to around 2 weeks ago. I have also thought, may be I should just have one, that will help me, but I know that's the junkie way of thinking and I'm scared of relapsing into a full blown addiction to cigarettes again, remind myself why I quit, and so I don't bother going to the shop and buying that one cigarette.

  25. Hi Everyone! I wish I had better news but after 3 years free I slipped this past month. At first it was one here and there and now it is a full fledged problem. I'm here to get back on track and be free again. This wonderful community helped me the first time around and I am back for help again. I will be committing to NOPE tomorrow and hope to get past this terrible lapse in judgement. ❤

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
