  1. In a couple of days I will be 3 months quit. I am doing my celebration thread now as I am not sure when I will be visiting the forum again as I am moving home. So I'm clinking my glass and making a little speech. Firstly I just want to thank ALL of you for supporting me through this quit. I do however want to give enormous thanks to the people who have been with me from the start of this journey. Those of you who found the patience to keep willing me on through so many failed attempts. Secondly I am pleased to say that I am smoke free and now nicotine free Until next time - Love you all xxxxxx

Can’t smoke one and lie to myself it’s only one and I’m still a non smoker! Don’t even remember my life before I started to smoke..... stay strong! My new motto is NOPE = not one puff ever!!!!

  6. Welcome Jan and congratulations on quitting. Lots of us (most) have a few failed attempts before we found our forever quit. What helped me find mine was being a part of a forum with others who knew/know exactly what I was going through at any given time. Stick close here, we will help you however you need or want. We have lots of stuff here to help keep your mind off smoking. So check out all our various forums. And please post an SOS BEFORE you cave to a crave and let us try to help you past it. They really do work if you truly want to keep your quit.

  7. A recent study performed at The Boo Institute (a not-for-profit think-tank based in Tennessee which is just me sitting around giving my opinions on everything) stated that trying to keep up with all the contradictory health reports that come out can drive a person crazy. Do This For Better Health reads the headline this week. Fast-forward a couple of months from now and the headline reads: Don't Do That, It'll Kill Ya! I went down the rabbit hole of trying to keep up with all of the latest studies and reports when I took up the whole health and fitness thing. I wouldn't suggest it to anyone. Healthy living is rather simple so long as you don't complicate it. Take care of the big things first and listen to your body.

  8. I am finally off work for a few days. Gonna take my daughter and grandson to the Astros game Saturday and just chill. I needed a break the flooding in the north has been crushing us with traffic. We seem to be the only open corridor to the south in our territory. Things are slowly getting back to normal. Anyways I'm off and out

  9. Set a goal of three days without smoking. Whenever you get the urge to smoke, quickly shift your focus onto something else because the crave will go away in a few minutes. I think your mind is your own worst enemy right now. How much of the educational material and videos have you read/watched on this site? Immerse yourself into this and learn about this drug addiction because once you do, you're armed with the knowledge never take another puff.

  12. I finally WANT to quit. Until now its just been knowing I NEED to quit. Thank goodness. I'm not sure why or how the switch went on in my head but I'm glad it did! I can't find my signature area to put my ticker info on. This is hard for me to admit because I'm a techy, but I'll be darned if I can find it. Can someone point me in the right direction?

  16. These are MY own personal thoughts, maybe not shared by everyone BUT I personally believe that if you want it enough then you will do it. There are LOADS of positives about giving up smoking BUT if you don't really really WANT to give up then it will be MUCH tougher and sooner or later that weak moment will come and hey presto .... you are smoking again. If you WANT to smoke then smoke, lot's of people realise they will more than likely die much earlier, they smell of an ash tray, it costs them loads of cash, they KNOW all the downside BUT if they are STILL happy smoking then why not? If you KNOW all these things but STILL choose to smoke then BE HAPPY DOING IT but it's STUPID doing something that makes you unhappy. If you REALLY REALLY REALLY want to give up smoking then you will do it.

  17. Michelle. I hope you're still here. I'm assuming you figured out how to make your ticker but now you need to know how to get to your signature so you can paste it there. If so, copy your ticker......then: Click on the drop down arrow next to your name in the upper right hand corner, then click on ACCOUNT SETTINGS (see below) The SETTINGS window will appear. Click on SIGNATURE (see below) Finally, paste your ticker in SIGNATURE box (see below) and click SAVE.

  19. Sometimes just a normal Monday night game during the first half of the regular season can turn out to be far more eventful than you thought it would be. The Braves beat the Pirates. The win combined with Philadelphia's loss in Arizona pulled Atlanta into a tie for the lead in the East. Nick Markakis tallied the 1,000th RBI of his career last night. And we had a little dust-up in the first inning...

  22. I love a hot soak in the tub. I hate showers. My husband always used to tease me and said it was like soaking in ones dirt. Now that he is older, I find him taking many a soak, in the evening to help those sore muscles. FunkyfunJo, that sounds like a great way to relax from the stresses of quitting. Wish I had thought of it. You are doing great. Wasn't it Tony Randall (the actor) that had a child in his 80's. A man is never too young to reporduce.

  27. Absolutely what happened to me Michelle. One fine morning, I came to work (where I would primarily smoke) and decided today is the day I stop buying and smoking them. Just like that. Of course there were challenges, but yeah it was just like a switch had flipped in my brain. Good job on taking that call. Looking forward to celebrating your milestones with you.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
