  3. Greetings NOPErs... today is a double dip day .... but only cos we have quite a few lads and lasses who will get a kick out of one of these... so down under in my kitchen we will be celebrating the wonder that is Make Your Own Bread Day.... as I'll be making a lovely vienna loaf and also a cheese and garlic pull apart... love making my won bread.... but 17th of November is also Take A Hike Day.... so @BKP, @Sslip, @Boo and all you others... and I know there is a whole legion of QT members who are up for it....even our own @StewieTech take a Hike today, breath the fresh air and celebrate life with smoke free lungs. Melbourne has amazing hiking spots... cliffs, ocean trails, bush or temperate rainforests....we get it all people... Dandenong Ranges are nice (below)... but my spots the Otways... NOPE .... can't wait to hike without a smoke... just need to energy levels to increase.

  4. So who's Ivy? My Mom! She's 98 years young today and still living on her own in a 3 story house. So, what's the connection with this smoking forum? It's not just because she's my Mom and she's awesome but, she smoked for roughly 20 years back in the day when the majority of people smoked. I can still vaguely remember her and my father smoking when I was a young kid. They both quit the cigarettes at some point but my Dad took up cigars then - they finally did him in or at least contributed to his demise significantly. My Mom ended up having battles with 2 different forms of cancer probably 30 years apart from each other. She beat it both times so, there you go if you are looking for inspiration to begin your quit or maintain an established one 98 and still fit as a fiddle, relatively speaking is clearly doable . Her biggest issue is her hearing. I was never aware that her TV volume button went to 70 until the last time I visited her place. No wonder she rarely answers the phone when I call her She refuses to get a hearing aid because she says; "those are for old people"!

  5. Hang in there MLMR! I am right behind you. Week two and I think it's much better now than this time a week ago. I know what we're up against. Was was free from this 11 years ago for a whopping 5 months until a tornado decided to blow through our town and take everything. My biggest regret is taking the first drag...the first of many more. Right now I am starting to feel a new sense of pride that I haven't had about something for a long time. I know it is a long journey but we'll get there.

  11. Thanks for the shout out Jane. I have just completed my 6th day smoke and nicotine free. At the moment I don't look any further ahead than the day I'm in. I'm feeling excited, proud and loving my new life. A new year is just around the corner and I'm going to be starting it a non smoker. That for me is a dream come true ?

  20. Next week (11/20) will mark 5 years! I quit cold turkey because “ it was time” i have had 4 grandchildren since I quit! I retired from my real job, gained 25lbs and decided I was getting to fat and went back to work.... I’m still too fat., maybe i need different job. All 4 daughters, 8 granddaughters, lone grandson and various son-in-laws all doing good. I’m not saving any money since I quit smoking... I’m spending it!! Since I quit I have been to Pompano Beach, twice... Marco Island, Sanibel Island, and Fort Myers Fl.... on top of that we take at least 1 trip a year to the Outer Banks N.C... our 2019 house is reserved for May... talking about a second trip in October. There will be no inheritance for the kids! in 2016 my wife suggested we buy a new Mustang Gt... I really like that woman! ? i need to buy a Harley so I can ride to California with Bakon... maybe the wife will read this.. ?

  22. Congratulations @Pumpkin for being one month smoke free. Well done Pumpkin. So I know you had to go into pumpkin protection towards the end of October but Jack O'Lantern season is now over and we would love if you could pop in and give us an update of how you are traveling. I hope you are still rewarding yourself with lots of smoke free cuddles to the blind dogs at the shelter. So one month is fantastic, do something special to reward yourself.

  23. He likes being single. He is 38. He had his heart broken years ago. I also don't think he will find a girl now because he has stinky ferrets as pets. He has promised me Thanksgiving will be fun this year. He says if Grandma gets out of line, he is going to let his stinky rodents loose!?

  31. I never heard of Proby, googled him and, well well well....no wonder you are a fan, Madame Toady Toad ! "Proby's UK career lost momentum after controversial live concert appearances including two trouser-splitting incidents at shows in Croydon and Luton in January 1965 that scandalized the British press and public[4] and led to bans"

  34. The best flavour chips are chicken... always my favourite... and we even have 'chicken' salt that we put on hot chips.... OK think I better clarify... in Aus we call crisps chips and we call fries chips... see... Anyway in Australia chicken flavoured chips sell more than any other flavour... these are my faves... But these are the kids favourite.... We even have chicken flavoured popcorn....

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
