  1. Hey all. Quit today after 14 years and many attempts. But feeling optimistic. Feels different this time. Already had some cravings and I stayed present and rode it out. Many cravings seem to be about not being able to handle future anxiety so staying in the moment helps. Been checking out this forum for a few days. Glad to be here!

  4. Hi everyone, I smoked my last cigarette at 9:30 this evening. I've smoked since high school in the late 1970's and have put thousands of dollars in the tobacco companies pockets over the years but I've finally had enough. I'm in for a rough couple of weeks until I can control this addiction instead of letting it control me, But I've armed myself with nicotine patches, hard candy and plenty of gum to make things as easy as possible. Really looking forward to a couple of weeks from now.. ?

  6. I never put @reciprocity and my reciprocating 'friend' together in my brain before. Will the two be forever linked now ? Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. I just hope @StewieTech i.e. Pork Chop 'The Lad' won't be too furious. Vroom Vroom. Vroom Vroom Vroom.....

  9. All day today, I felt like I should post an SOS. Just when I would get ready to post my brain would do that complete circle. The crave would start, the cigarette thought would pop into my head, the long deep inhale (feeling quite good) and then the Nah! I don't need that or want that. I would like to say that I think I have this but I know I'm probably still going to have weak moments. Then again, I have been awfully distracted with the dildo's in the travelling department?

  11. I was three years old when that came out so it's hard for me to blame big tobacco for my getting hooked on cigarettes. I have no one to blame but myself. Great find jo, thanks

  12. Hi TobacNo, welcome to the train and congratulations on taking back your life I smoked since high school too and continued for the next 35 years so if I can quit so can you Joining a forum imo is why I was able to succeed and I hope you find the same to be true because no one knows what we go through when quitting better than a group of fellow ex smokers right?!

  20. Hi Kdad! Great move to quit this horrible addiction. Your personal commitment to yourself is what will carry you through the tough early days when that addiction is screaming to be fed. Stay strong and just know that each battle you fight and win against this addiction makes you stronger and the addiction weaker. You too can break free of this addiction if you want it bad enough. Just remember N.O.P.E. (Not One Puff Ever)

  21. Welcome aboard TobacNO and congratulations on finding your way here and arming yourself for this quit. Many or most of us smoked for more years than we care to remember. Read a lot, write as much as you wish and have the people here help you in the times you need help. Do write a preresponse in the SOS forum and I encourage you to post in the daily nope forum, promising yourself every day that you'll stick with the quit for the next 24 hours.

  22. Congrats Kdad and welcome to the Quit Train. Just worry about the now... There us no point wasting any energy stressing about tomorrow or regretting yesterday. Yesterday is done and dusted, you can't go back and change things so learn from them and move on...and tomorrow, its always just a day away. Stay close, read heads in the smoking forums or come play the games to keep your mind of the craves.

  23. Congratulations mate. Best decision you will ever make. So I read a tip the other DAT that I wish I had known in the early days...drink juice, lotsa juice. You can do this, just remember one day at a time, and you are the one in control.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
